Pete's obituary
Peter Michael Tilden, age 71, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.
Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts on January 5, 1953 to the late Paul A. Tilden and Margaret L. (Magwood) Tilden-Reardon and is preceded in death by his youngest sister, Patricia Lynn Tilden-Beaudoin.
Peter was raised in the small town of Plaistow, New Hampshire where he attended schools and church. He was active in Boy Scouts, little league baseball, snow skiing and ice hockey.
With his younger sister’s health failing, the family moved to Florida. While still in high school, he served his community on the local volunteer ambulance squad. On the weekends, Peter raced his dirt bike and competed in state championship motocross.
After graduating from Eau Gallie High School in 1970, Pete answered the call of his country by joining the Air Force where he served his country for the next 18 years. Master Sergeant Tilden served in the Vietnam War and the Gulf War. When September 11th happened, he volunteered his services for search and rescue and spent two weeks in New York.
Pete always enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish. You would often find him sitting at a park enjoying the Arizona sunshine. He loved the Boston Red Sox, history, music, crossword puzzles and most importantly his family. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his three children: Shawn Tilden, Jennifer Tilden (Jeff Wenzel), Heather Tilden-King(Russell) all of Tucson.
Sisters: Paula Tilden-Carnes of New Hampshire, Pamela Tilden-Wilcox of Florida.
Eight grandchildren: Mason, Ellia, Tylor(Mariah) Jace, Jakob, JJ, Jase, Jaxson and many nieces and nephews.
Burial with full military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. June 20, 2024 at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Marana 15950 N Luckett street.
A celebration of Life will be held at the VFW Post # 549 on Old Spanish Trail in Tucson from 12:00-2:30.
