Peter's obituary

Peter Joseph Cospelich, 75, of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at his home, on February 1, 2024, in St. Francisville, Louisiana.

Peter, fondly known as "Pete the Painter" was born to Manley and Marguerite Cospelich on October 22, 1948, in Gulfport MS. Peter held many titles in his life, from fisherman to painter to son, brother, father, grandfather, family sage, friend, good neighbor; but his favorite role was being a father. He loved nothing more than spending time with his children or talking daily on the phone listening to all their life updates. He was always there for them whether it be a listening ear, giving life advice, or cheering them on their daily accomplishments no matter how big or small. He would always share the daily incidents and stories with his cats that he adopted over the years. The impact he had not only on his children and family, as well and his community will be felt over the years to come. He was a true salt of the earth man, as gentle as they come and loved by all that knew him.

He is survived by his daughter Margurite Cospelich (Paul) Mooney from Wiggins, MS, and son Jason Cospelich from Lumberton, MS. He is also survived by four siblings, Joyce Pearson from Baton Rouge, LA, Anne (Walter) Legett from Baton Rouge, LA, Manley Cospelich (Betty) from Wiggins, MS, and Matthew “Brother” (Patti) Cospelich from Gulfport, MS.

Peter was preceded in death by his son Joseph Rembert Cospelich, father Manley Charles Cospelich, and mother Marguerite Cullinan Cospelich.

May he rest in peace!
