Peggy's obituary
Peggy Ann Duncan Padilla, mother, book lover and joke teller, passed away on Saturday December 6, 2025, from an ongoing respiratory illness. She was 75.
Peggy had a fiery, independent spirit and enjoyed making others laugh. She loved all things Scottish, as she was happy to tell anyone around her about her Scottish heritage. One of her favorite vacations was a trip to Scotland with her youngest daughter. Peggy was an avid traveler and had many adventures with friends and family. White water river rafting and yoga were some of the activities she enjoyed - she also loved to curl up with a good book or binge watch episodes of "Outlander."
Peggy had three lovely daughters and worked hard to provide for them. Her experience caring for Dana, her daughter with down syndrome, led her to a career working with students with special needs in the Davis County School District. Peggy loved the people she worked with, and her funny outgoing personality made her a popular educator. She retired in 2013 after over 30 years of public service, but soon Peggy was out in the workforce again, assisting people who had disabilities with every day household needs. She continued providing this service until she physically wasn't able to anymore. Peggy also worked at Home Depot in Centerville for many years, supplemental income that helped her support her children as a single mother. An activist at heart, Peggy was a proud liberal feminist and was not afraid to share her views!
One of her favorite things to do was spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved babysitting and letting children run throughout her house. Family was very important to Peggy; she made strong connections with many of her relatives, especially her mother, Margaret.
Peggy was born on December 31, 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She loved to say that the entire world came out to celebrate her birthday! She was a member of the LDS church and looked forward to the day she could be reunited with her parents and her daughter, Dana. That day, at last, has come.
Surviving relatives include her daughters, Denise (Steve) Mason, and Daniela Padilla (Cameron Rauenhorst); grandsons Mason (Cassidy) Shelton, Matthew (Ezzy) Booth, and Maxwell Booth; her brothers Curt (Janet) Duncan, and Kevin Duncan; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Peggy is proceeded in death by her mother, Margaret McGill Duncan, and her sweet daughter, Dana Lynn Dykhuizen.
A Celebration of Life event will take place from 10am - 12pm on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at Wild Sage Events: 1480 Orchard Dr. suite 113, Bountiful, UT 84010.

Peggy had many friends and neighbors who visited her and kept her company, and we know that enriched her life up until the very end. Peggy's family sends their sincerest gratitude to everyone who showed kindness and support to her. Rest in Peace, Peggy, we will miss you but we could never forget you!
