Friends, family, and community,

With intentional, but heavy hearts we offer the following as the best of shared consolation and remembrance to an incredible loved one, parent, and person. Paula Overby resided in Eagan, MN, and passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 5, 2022.

She is preceded in death by father Vern Overby and brother Mark Overby. She is survived by children Tyler Overby, Courtney Overby (Glen), & Jamie Weber (Thomas); grandchildren Jalan & Joey; mother Verna Overby; siblings Lori Bryant & Sharon Strauss (Dean) and many extended family & friends.

Paula achieved and overcame much throughout her life. She held multiple college degrees, wrote and published a book, and ran for public office three times between 2008 and 2022. She shared time with others, talking and listening to so many. Paula was involved with many different organizations including East Metro Civic Alliance, Our Revolution, the Twin Cities Men’s Center, Land Stewardship Project and more. Paula supported digital services as the Technology Director at the Friends School of Minnesota. She enjoyed the challenge of computer and technical communications.

Paula was loving, courageous, playful, deep, passionate, and thought outside of the box. She enjoyed creating memories with her family & friends, baking, singing karaoke, and sewing. She sewed many of her own styles and all the dresses in her wedding. She could build furniture, fix cars, remodel houses, and landscape a yard. Halloween was a favorite holiday and an exciting time for the Overby family. We never had store bought costumes growing up, and many of Paula’s costume designs won prizes in local contests. Paula was a huge part of our lives, a force of inspiration and imagination in the world of those she supported. Words cannot describe how much her presence will be deeply missed.

A life so wonderfully lived deserves to be wonderfully remembered. Paula was active in the community and her loss will be felt by many. Our family welcomes any and all who would like to attend and share their fond memories. A memorial gathering for Paula will be held on Thursday, November 3rd from 3:30 - 5:30pm at Mueller Memorial in Saint Paul, MN, followed by a time of sharing from 5:30 - 6:00pm.
