Paula's obituary
It is with great sorrow that our family announces the death of Paula Louise Collier Mims, who passed away on the evening of August 6, 2023.
Paula lived a vibrant life filled with joy and happiness that touched the lives of everyone she interacted with.
She was bold and had a strong aura. She commanded any room she was in. Without question, she possessed an insatiable zest for life. Those who knew her could not help but be affected by her infectious laughter and radiant smile. She was a joy to be around, believed in living life to the fullest, often sharing that joy with others.
Paula was regarded as the community mom. All her children’s friends were her kids, or they wanted to be. Model, adventurer, advocate, artist, sports fan, nerd, and unstoppable force of nature are just a few words used to describe her - but boring would never be one of them. She loved BIG and made it everyone else’s problem, and was unapologetic about all of it.
She enjoyed the simpler things in life like indulging in her favorite foods or watching YouTube videos on various topics. Most recently, she took pleasure in revisiting parts of St. Louis that sparked fond memories of her youth.
Paula is survived by her husband, Freddie Mims, and children, Brandon Owens and Sade Owens. She leaves behind her mother, Peola J. Collier; three siblings, Susan E. Barnes, Katherine Collier Brock, and Gary D. Collier, and their spouses.
She leaves a legacy in the lives of her two nieces, Olivia Payne and Elyse Collier; her six nephews, Richard Lane Jr., Christopher Conyears, William Brock, Evan Collier, Alexander Brock, and Phillip Brock; aunts, uncles, eight great nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins. Paula is predeceased by her father, Shad Collier.
Her departure leaves a void in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed, not just by those closest to her, but also by all who had the privilege to know her.
Rest in peace, Paula, your memory will forever be treasured and loved.
