Chef Paul's obituary
Paul was a leader in his community, as a young child his mother introduced him to The Lord Jesus Christ where he became baptized and a member of Macedonia Baptist church. There he found a few of his talents . He was taught to play the piano by the late great Elliott Dixon, he sung in the tiny tot choir, as well as the Rinico Nelson choir. God has blessed Paul with an outstanding personality, and he was in a class by himself. Paul was a unique individual, he had talent, looks and personality and he used them all to serve others. Yes, Paul was a servant; he did a lot of service for our community. Paul begun teaching at Beredith right after graduating from Mount Vernon High School. There he met people that were not only inspired by him, moreover, they are still inspired by Brother Paul. Paul touched many lives through his many talents. There was nothing he couldn’t do and what ever he did he did 100 % and with no hesitation. When Bro. Paul left teaching he started his own business as Wayne the Multi Cultural Clown, and when he no longer wanted to do that, he sang for various social organizations. Paul had an opportunity to sing with the late great Patty Labell, when he auditioned at the Apollo Theater. Paul always had a cooking job; he loved to cook. When he worked at Yvonnes restaurant in Pelham lots of people followed him because they knew they were going to get that down home tasting food. He brought the soul to The World famous Sylvia’s Southern Cusine in Harlem. Every restaurant Paul worked at, believe me many people followed him. All the while Bro. Paul had his own Catering business in the back ground until one day he was encouraged to make his own dreams come alive, and let the people know how good your food tastes! And boy Paul did just that! Lol! That’s when you begin to see him posting his flyers on Facebook and word got out that Chefs Paul’s food is delicious. And that’s all he wrote, Chef Paul would make deliveries, cater to people’s houses, many churches, weddings and also to the sick and shut in! Let’s not forget Paul traveling to the mother land many times, “Africa”, he loved it over there. If he had it his way he would live over there. However, at the beginning of this year 2021, Paul became ill, and he was diagnosed with brain cancer not knowing it metabolized from the lung cancer. On May 24, 2021 I’ve received the phone call that my brother had made his transition. My brother Paul was a one of a kind individual every where he went Paul’s loving and caring spirit would light up the room. If you we’re Paul’s friend, there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for you; he went above and beyond for me many times. I’m forever grateful to have had Paul as my younger brother. Paul was survived by many sisters and brothers, Jacqueline, Peter, Felicia, John, Wingay, Joyce, Renell, William, Pete, Madeline, Maryann, and Janiemay. Over fifty nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. You could tell he came from good stock, the way you were treated by Paul, always respectfully and with manners! Paul showed love to many people, and it’s very important to those who were dear to my brother Paul, and who shared commonality with him, that they should continue living his legacy, because we cannot let his transition be in vain. Thank you and God bless you all! By the way his bags were pack for his upcoming trip too Florida however, GOD had other plans and took him first.
