Memory from best friend, Richard Brown-
Looking back now, I had a perfect boyhood, much like Tom Sawyer's, on the the Mississippi. We had a lake to swim in and a park to play in. It seems dream-like now, too good to be true-but it was so.
I met Paul when I was in Kindergarten at Green Lake Elementary School, in 1961 or 1962. I can recall Paul as being very active when playing-even throwing stuff around our room. At recess, some boys would meet at a small exit door,on the 65th Street side of the big old wooden school building. I remember gathering on a small wooden porch just outside of the exit. Boys would take off running from the porch and into the big upper level playground. One day, when boys were out there on the small porch, Paul came up to me and asked if I wanted to join the "Superman" club. I think Paul must have been the creator and leader of this "select" group. Paul was always a natural leader. After becoming a member of the Superman club, I have memories of racing off the porch and into the playground, running around and trying to leap into the air like Superman.
Later, in the 5th or 6th grade, we had a writing assignment-"How an act of kindness influenced me". I recounted this same Superman story for the assignment. The story must have been fresher in my memory in those days.
As a result of joining the Superman club, Paul and I became best friends, with many many more happy and unforgettable adventures ahead of us.
Who could ask for more? I never could.
With my heart full of memories,
Richard Brown

Much love on this Christmas Eve from the Birch family. I'm so grateful we were able to visit on our way to Yosemite a few years ago. We are all remembering how welcomed we felt and how Paul made us a yummy pancake breakfast before we continued on our journey. We enjoyed hearing his stories of growing up in Greenlake and all about how happy and proud he was to be a grandpa! He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

I can’t remember the last time I saw you guys other than it had to be at the trip to Quartzsite for Joy and I drove together and followed you guys. It was such a wonderful time. I just want to say how sorry I am that Paul is gone and no That I had so much love and respect for you, Terry and Paul. You made such a difference and the world Anne At SMS just being the wonderful people that you are and were .you always had such a positive outlook and shared and irreverence when it was appropriate we always had a good laugh. You’ve been in my mind many times over the years and I’m sorry we never got together for a night of laughing and headshaking I guess.
So thank you for being two incredible people that made a difference in other peoples lives for the better. Best to you Terry and maybe we can meet again someday. Much love Kim Hofer, SMS, flunky and Survivor lol

When you grow up, your best friend's parents often become your second parents. Thank you, Paul, for always welcoming me into your home and family. I appreciated your sense of humor and always enjoyed our conversations. You will be missed.

Thank you Paul for welcoming me on family vacations with you as a teen to the coast. Kelsey and I had so much fun! I remember stopping at a petting zoo and enjoying the beach. It was an honor to know you and have been able to be a part of a few memories with your wonderful family. You will be missed beyond measure.
