Paul's obituary
Paul Daniel Richmond, 46, of Moorefield died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023 at Select Specialty Hospital in McKeesport, Pa. from complications related to diabetes and strokes.
Paul was born Feb. 12, 1976 in Charleston, the son of Doris Ann Staats Davis (husband John) of Buffalo, W.Va., and Douglas Richmond.
In addition to his parents, Paul is survived by: his children, son Dakota Richmond of Benson, Ariz., stepson Nathan Smith, daughter Emily Richmond, son Hunter Richmond, and daughter Isabella Richmond, all of Moorefield; his best friend and former wife, Tracy Stump Richmond, of Moorefield; sister Rebecca Bell (Tom) of Sharon, S.C.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Paul was pre-deceased by one infant child; his maternal grandparents, Roy and Susan Staats; and his paternal grandparents, Leon and Rita Richmond.
Paul worked for Hardman’s Hardware and Central Tie and Lumber Co., and volunteered as a Leader for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.
Paul loved to go fishing or take random drives with his kids, getting dirty anytime he could find mud, and tinkering with projects (most of which are still unfinished). His “dad jokes” were sometimes terrible. Ramps were worth being sent to sleep on the couch. His family will miss his beautiful eyes and smile.
Paul made mistakes, but he tried to be a good dad and did the best he could for many years.
Paul’s body was donated to the WVU School of Medicine via the Human Gift Registry. A celebration of Paul’s life will be held at a later date. He wanted everyone to know that, if he died, he still wouldn’t vote Democrat of his own free will.
Memorial donations may be made to the WVU Human Gift Registry, the American Diabetes Association, or the American Stroke Association.
