Paul Frederick Pickell, age 78, went to be with the Lord when he lost his battle with cancer on April 13, 2023.

Paul was born on September 28, 1944, to Lorenz and Thema Pickell in Saginaw, MI. He grew up in Reese, MI, where he graduated from Reese High School with the class of '62.

In those early years, Paul and Jan met as teenagers, after getting married in 1964, they shared their life for more than 57 years in which Paul considered Jan his " .. kind, loving, exceptional wife of 57 ½ years,” saying “it's been a real ride!”

Paul worked for General Motors while attending GMI and working a second job in the residential and commercial glass business. He had a passion for racing cars and was often seen on the track in those early days, giving the fastest cars a run for their money.

After graduating from GMI, he began a career in the glass industry. In 1978, he packed up and moved the family to Indian River, where he loved to go fishing and boating on the lakes.

Paul established Paul's Glass Services, Inc. in Indian River in the glass industry, selling and installing any residential, commercial, and automotive glass. Paul met many people over the 45 years he owned and operated his business. He always enjoyed the many different ideas and settings people came up with when building or remodeling their spaces.

Paul is survived by his wife, Jan Pickell, his son Jeff Pickell, and his grandkids, Shelby Mann, Riley Reed, and Braylen Reed; his brother Larry (Carol) Pickell, along with many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Jodie Reed.

The family would like to invite you to Hope Lutheran Church at 6193 S Straits Hwy, Indian River, MI, on Sunday, May 7, 2023, for a memorial service to celebrate Paul. Visitation will begin at 1 pm, with the service at 3 pm.
