There are people that exude energy, positivity and happiness, that's Paul. I will never forget him and his enthusiasm for being outside, bike riding and life. No doubt he brought a smile with him everywhere and made a positive impact in the process. I am deeply saddened that his loved ones are experiencing such a tremendous loss, we will keep you in our prayers. I hope Paul is honored with a truly rad bike, perhaps tie-dye, along with his wings. <3

I recently also reconnected with Paul after about 30 years. We graduated the LA program at MSU (he was a year ahead of me) and he was a great mentor and guide thru the program for me at the time. Fortunately for me we ended up in the DC area together and grew even closer in the short time before he moved back to MI. Paul was one of the most kind and giving persons I have ever met, and I am honored to have known him in as little time as I was given. My prayers are with him and his family during this difficult time. RIP my friend Paul.

I worked with Paul for many years and he was always the most generous, helpful soul. He always sounded delighted to hear from me and I enjoyed working with him a great deal. His passing is a tremendous loss and I send my deepest sympathies to his family.

So sorry to hear this. Paul was a wonderful person. Always smiling and never a bad thing to say about anyone or anything. I met him when our kids swam together at Holt High School. I will always have great memories of Paul. He will be missed.

My deepest condolences to Paul's family. I have worked "adjacent" to Paul for several years and every time our paths crossed, we always had a chuckle over shared adventures in chicken ranching. Kindness, peace, and love are everything that I remember about Paul. He always talked about his family with great love. My heart goes out to all of his friends and family.

I was introduced to Paul 5 years ago while attending my first Michigan State Waterways Commission meeting. He welcomed me with his great big smile and warm friendly personality. He always had such a pleasant attitude and never anything but good to say about others. He will be missed by his Commission friends.

My heart hurts to read of Paul’s passing…I met Paul when he first started with the DNR-Parks. I remember he spent the day with me at P.J. Hoffmaster State Park; forever after he had a smile and hug when we saw each other…always positive and a joy to see. Fly high with the angels Paul 🕊

I met Paul 30 yrs ago and would see him once or twice a year when I was in Lansing. Every single time he saw me he took the time to visit and make me know he valued our friendship. You can't pretend to be that kind of genuine. What a great guy.

Paul was one of our many neighborhood kids. We played outside from morning to night from 1960’s-1980’s. We had the most fun, playing in the farmers field. This was our favorite hangout. We had a kickball field, baseball diamond, cool forts, Christmas trees and we even caught gophers with milk bottles filled with water, from my dad who was a milkman when we were very young. Our gang consisted of Morgan, Petersen, Dumond, Lyndrup, Barber, Bannen, Merren, Thompson, Ray, Larsen, Sage, Griffith and Henry kids. We always had fun no matter the season. We built snow forts and played king on the mountain at the Admiral Station and iceskated in Merrens front yard until the yard lights came on. In short, we had the best childhood! You will be missed, Paul! I’m sure you and Dar are playing catch. 💜
Love,
Tami
