This is not a memory but a  current and very sad emotion.  This week (July 10-17, 2022) the Gliniecki sisters are having a get-together in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  I had planned to go to Michigan with  my wife Charlene and ,while she was at the sister's event, spend time with Paul at his beautiful retirement home in Pentwater MI and then go visit my brothers-in-law and play some golf with brother-in-law Dave   Eilers.  In fact, I spoke on the phone with Paul the night before the operation.  We made our plans to visit some brewpubs, one of our favorite things to do together.  I said, "The next time I see you Paul, I'll be buying you a beer."   He said, "Sounds good , 'little buddy."  I suppose he called other people that, too, since it was from his beloved TV show Gilligan's Island.   I'm going to miss being his "little buddy" more than I can say.

I met Paul through work last year and what a bright light he always was when we interacted.  His smile and positive energy will be remembered always.  I was shocked to learn of his passing.  My sincere condolences to all his family and friends.  Keeping all in my thoughts and prayers.
The smile and a sincere greeting was his hallmark. Thank you Paul

Always a smile and a friendly greeting. I will miss working with you Paul.
So sorry for your loss. Paul was always pleasant to be around and helpful during our scouting events. My prayers for you and your family.
So sorry, you are all in our thoughts and prayers!
I will forever miss the man that taught me that there is nothing more important in life than taking the time to make the people you care about feel loved and special.
Having Paul as a student in the industrial art classes at Greenville high was a blessing, as so many students we’re quite the tormentors not only to the teacher, But to the rest of the classmates. Paul of course was, as so many of you have shared of him, as a kind loving person but fun too. It is so rewarding for a teacher to learn of the endearing life that he led with his family and new friends that he made along his life’s journey. I am deeply saddened especially for his family and all of you that have learned and known in Paul -the outstanding person that he shared and became with you.  May his charismatic character Live on within you, as you carry his memories forward.  Peace be with you.  With love in my heart for Paul.                                 Duane Putnam, retired GHS teacher
Paul was such a genuine person and real treasure to work alongside.  Working with Paul over the last 20 years you really got to appreciate the depth of his character.  If you were fortunate to have Paul give you a special name or receive emoji’s and texts, you knew he cared about you.  I will never hear the Oscar Meyer wiener song and not smile and think of Paul. I have missed those times around Waterways travels, but my true sadness is that Paul had so much more to give, especially for his growing family. My heart truly breaks for them. Lastly, all of us could use more of “Petie” in ourselves; the kindness, jocularity, and love. I’ll miss you buddy.

An incredible man. Here in New Orleans we have city wide celebrations of St Patrick and St Joseph altars filled with home made Italian specialties blessed then distributed to the hungry. Petie, welcome to the celebration.😇

One of the biggest-hearted men I have ever met; I will miss my brother-in-law Paul terribly. His big, goofy laugh made it evident that he was always glad to see me, almost like a dog wagging his tail. "Hey, little buddy! How are you?" he would say even though he was only one year older than my daughter. It's fair to say I loved him like a little brother. I think the feeling was mutual, and it's an honor.

Anyone wanting to know this man's soul need only watch the TV program Gilligan's Island or the movies Forrest Gump, or Shreck or any movie by Adam Sandler. And watch them over and over as we did many times.

Paul and I shared a love of craft beer. There were very few brewpubs too far away to get there and back before dinner. The last photo I got from Paul was a funny take on Budweiser because he knew I didn't like it. Our final communication by text the night before the surgery was a plan to have a beer immediately upon seeing each other at a family event this coming July. He said, "I like it!"

The world is less bright in his absence.

Steve Crothers (Charlene Gliniecki's husband)

I believe the best people have the best laughs and Paul’s was top notch. It was taken from us decades too soon, but I will never forget it. Some people laugh from the face, some from the belly. Paul laughed with his whole body and brought the whole room along for the ride.

So much love to the whole Petersen clan always,

Patrick Abeli

I met Paul when we were at the Mason bldg. Such a wonderful and kind hearted. Especially when he asked when he could get his veggie egg rolls. I will miss talking about our granddaughter and sending pictures. Prayers to your family.
Paul was one of the most genuine people I knew. He always brightened my day. So sorry for your loss.
This breaks my heart. Paul was probably one of the kindest, most genuinely caring people in the whole world. You could hear his laugh no matter you where on our floor at the DNR and you couldn’t help but smile. He was shining light in this world but he shown brightest when he was talking about his family. I loved our catch ups in the hallways, break room, and emails. Swapping dog stories and pictures and getting life updates on his family. The last interaction I had with Paul was a few weeks ago and in true Paul fashion it was checking in to make sure I was doing ok. My deepest sympathies to Diane, Brian, Ingrid, Alice, and Lucy (and Bo & Ursie). I am thinking of you and praying for you all. He will be tremendously missed.

It was a blessing to work with Paul as he was such an amazing person, truly a bright shinning star even on a cloudy day.  Always had a smile and a good word and his laugh could be heard from down the hall!  It is truly heart breaking that one with such a big heart and good soul is no longer with us.  The family is in my thoughts and prayers.
There are people that exude energy, positivity and happiness, that's Paul.  I will never forget him and his enthusiasm for being outside, bike riding and life.   No doubt he brought a smile with him everywhere and made a positive impact in the process.  I am deeply saddened that his loved ones are experiencing such a tremendous loss, we will keep you in our prayers.   I hope Paul is honored with a truly rad bike, perhaps tie-dye, along with his wings.  <3
