Paul's obituary
Obinger, Paul W. passed away unexpectedly on March 13, 2024, at the age of 68. His parents Walter and Dolores preceded him in death. Paul is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barb; children Alan and JaciLyn; brother Rev. Wallace (Cindy); Uncle John (Shirley) Lekander, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Paul graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1978 and went on to teach HS social studies at Maranatha Christian Academy. He was a successful coach who led his high school baseball team to the state championship in 2007, earning them second place in their division. In 2020, after 22 years of teaching, Paul retired.
Paul was a devoted and loving father to his children, Alan and JaciLyn. He was so proud and always supported them in everything they did. Paul enjoyed activities like fishing, hunting, and boot hockey. He was a big MN Twins fan and attended many season games with his son and friends. Paul loved Minnesota summers and made it a point to attend the State Fair every year. It became a cherished tradition with his daughter. He enjoyed traveling around the country and seeing new places. Most recently, he enjoyed spending his winters in Corpus Christi with his wife Barb. Paul will always be remembered for his quick wit, vast knowledge of history, calm presence, and positive outlook on life.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at LWCC 9201 75th Ave N, Brooklyn Park, MN 55428. Visitation will begin at 11 AM followed by the ceremony at noon. In memory of Paul, the family requests that attendees wear Twins gear.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials.
