Paul's obituary
12/31/1927 – 9/5/2019
Paul Everett Kimes Sr. passed into the open arms of Jesus on September 5, 2019 at his home in Winnetka, California. Paul was a kind and gentle man who put his family and other people first. He was devoted to the love of his life Eloise continuing to read the Bible and pray with her, keeping her picture by his side on the kitchen table as he ate every day since her death in 2007. When you prayed with and for Paul he would inevitably turn that prayer around to pray for you. He initiated conversation wherever he went whether it be at public and family gatherings, in the neighborhood on his daily walks, on shopping trips or during any of his numerous adventures. He was an old fashioned do-it-your selfer but was the first to express gratitude any time anyone did something for him, especially as he needed more and more care in his later years.
Paul was born on December 31, 1927, the 10th of 11 children to George Kimes and Charlotte Kellerman Kimes in Scranton Pennsylvania. He served in the army in Korea and had a long career with Capitol Records. Paul and Eloise made a courageous move in 1966 when Capitol closed their record plant in Scranton and offered to move the family of 8 to California so Paul could continue to work for them at the Capitol Tower in Hollywood. Paul retired from Capitol Records in 1992.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters and his loving wife, Eloise. He is survived by his 6 children, Paul Kimes Jr. (Helen), Cheryl DeLong (David), Scott Kimes (Josette), Glenda Price (David), Jeanne Clancy (Brian), Janell Goldring (David), 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, a sister-in-law Marg Kimes and many nieces and nephews. Paul’s greatest gifts were his sense of humor that he shared on a daily basis and his example of a Godly man who passed along the love and salvation of Jesus praying for his children and their families every day as well as others as they touched his life.
