Paul was an amazing Nurse Anesthetist who taught me the passion and joy of the practice. He also took care of me and my Army colleagues when we were deployed to Iraq in 2003-04, by sending the most awesome care packages with much needed supplies for our patients and our own mental health. ;)

Take care Paul and God Bless you and your family!  Jamie Cherry COL (Ret) USARMY, CRNA

My most sincere condolences to your family. As a CRNA, I knew Paul for many years; first meeting him in Elizabeth City and again connecting in Greenville. I never met his family but I felt I knew them as I got a peek into the family he adored. I saw his concern for patients and his desire to do his very best every day. His caring spirit was so evident in his work families interactions as well. I am going to miss my friend Paul! His light may not be shining but it certainly will be remembered.

Blessings,

Elizabeth Wanzer

Dear Leslie, I am so saddened to hear of Paul’s passing. Please know of my prayers for you and your family. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I was fortunate to get to know Paul while he worked with us at Physicians East in Greenville, NC. I enjoyed hearing his stories about bee keeping and building the food pantry.  We share in your grief and are all so sad to hear of your loss. We are grateful for the time spent with Paul. Please accept our deepest condolences.

My favorite memory of Paul was one Thanksgiving day at the house in Short Hills as our families gathered for a feast--the year he got a water bed.   As the youngest cousin in attendance, I had to try that water bed, which was flat on the floor in the basement.  Paul told me to lay in the middle of the bed and roll around a little to make some waves.  Then he flopped down on the edge of the bed and sent me flying in the air above the bed!  We laughed and laughed!!  It was thrilling to say the least!!!

I will cherish this memory of Paul and hold him in my heart.  My sincere condolences to all of the DeSessas.  May God bless you all.

I have been a member of the 26th NC Reg. Brass Band (Jari's" group) since the New Bern Monument was dedicated in 2007, I think that was the year. That was my first event......very emotional.........just like all of them!! I admit that I did not meet or have time to get close to members of the 26th since the band did not partake in a lot events exccept the 145th and 150th events at Appomattox. Bill Rose and I were the only 26th band members to attend the 150th Appomattox reenactment with the 26th Regiment. We both felt emotionally drawn to the 26th and attended with pride for the regiment! I can only say that I may have conversed a time or two with Paul at these events over the years. ......... So deeply sorry for your loss. God Bless, Eric Pfeiffer

I am thankful beyond words to have had you as my Father In Law. I learned so much from you and keep replaying all the phrases and words of wisdom you’d always say. You and Leslie made my wonderful husband and I am forever grateful for that. He got his larger than life/great story telling personality from you. I love you Paul and miss you so much already. Nothing will be the same with you gone. See you in heaven FIL!

Dear DeSessa family,

I was very sorry to hear of Paul's passing. I will never forget him taking care of me at Gettysburg and at Appomattox in 2008. He was always a great asset to the Carolina Legion and the 26th North Carolina. If I can be of assistance in any way, please don't hesitate to let me know.
