It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Patsy Mears, born on October 28, 1948, and who passed away on April 5, 2026. Patsy was a beloved figure of strength and courage, an independent spirit whose straight-forward personality always shone brightly. She was a woman who was not afraid to express her feelings, a trait valued by many who cherished her candor and honesty. In her own words, she taught us all to hold ourselves accountable and to defend ourselves bravely. Patsy highlighted the importance of family, a testament that shines through her surviving relatives.
Patsy is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry Mears; her son, Ralph Garren; her daughter, Lynell Johnson; her nieces, Breana and Aisha Calkins and Wendy Russo; her nephew, Lonnie Phillips; her brother, Buddy Phillips; her sisters, Shirley Hatcher and Rebecca Davis; her granddaughter, Crystal Gaj; and many more relatives. Patsy's heart extended beyond her human family to her cherished dogs, Sissy and Little Bit, who also mourn her loss.
Known for her love of lasagna, chicken & dumplings and Cuban food, Patsy was a woman who appreciated good comfort food. Her favorite drinks were Coca-Cola and coffee, simple pleasures that she savored often. She was a fan of Patsy Cline's heartfelt music, and she found enjoyment in TV Shows like Toddlers & Tiaras, General Hospital, and Days of Our Lives. A loyal Dallas Cowboys fan, Patsy knew the joy that sports could bring.
Patsy's favorite recreational activities were shopping and spending time with her beloved husband and dogs. She enjoyed visiting local spots such as Bealls for shopping. Her favorite color, red, was a fitting reflection of her vibrant and lively nature.
Patsy's legacy will forever be a legacy of love. Her resilience, independence, and fierce advocacy for self-responsibility will continue to inspire and guide those who knew her. Though we mourn her loss, we also celebrate her remarkable life and the countless ways she enriched our own. May her memory live on in our hearts and minds.
