Patrick's obituary
Patrick Anthony Sessa, 63, of East Haven, passed away on May 7, 2023 at 9:30pm after a long battle with cancer.
Patrick was a lifelong resident of East Haven, where neighbors may remember him as a member of Old Stone Church, or for his quiet smile and simple nod of acknowledgement as he walked through town. Patrick began walking as a hobby to take control of his health, and made frequent trips down Main Street for many years, stopping at Dunkin Donuts each morning for coffee and a chat with other customers.
Born on September 13, 1959 to Violet (Canfield) and Anthony Sessa, Patrick graduated from East Haven High School in 1977, and took up residence in the town he already loved. He was a mechanic by trade, working first at the old Denegris Gas Station on Grannis Corners, and later at Monarch Equipment, Hyster New England, and Trilift, as a specialized forklift mechanic.
Having previously retired, Patrick enjoyed spending his leisure time cheering for the New York Giants, the New York Yankees, and watching Nascar. He also loved spending time with his family, providing very strong opinions while watching cooking shows, and helping others with their car issues. He was a lifelong fan of black licorice and homemade cookies.
Patrick is survived by his beloved son, Patrick Anthony Sessa Jr., and his siblings, Margaret (Tom) Shilberg of Meriden, Billy (Pam) Sessa of East Haven, and Katherine (Robert) Mallory of East Haven, along with a niece, Sarah Mallory, and nephews Robert Mallory Jr., William Shane Sessa, and Michael Ryan Sessa.
He is predeceased by his parents, his life partner Sheila Thomas, two of his three children, Dominic Charles Sessa, and Patrice Robin Sessa, and many cherished pets. His family takes comfort in the knowledge that they have been reunited in Heaven.
A small memorial is planned for Thursday, June 1, 2023. Please email sa.mallory@yahoo.com for details if you would like to attend. Condolence messages are greatly appreciated, and can be left at: https://everloved.com/life-of…
