Patrick's obituary
Patrick Edward Carroll
August 22, 1945 – November 2, 2025
Patrick Edward Carroll, 80, of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025. He was born on August 22, 1945, in Mount Carmel, Illinois, and spent much of his life in Kentucky, where he built lifelong friendships and cherished memories before eventually settling in Georgia with his family.
Patrick is survived by his devoted wife, Laurie Carroll, and his loving sons, Patrick Carroll Jr., Benjamin Carroll, and John Carroll. He was a proud grandfather to Micah Carroll, Zachary Carroll, Annabelle Carroll, Jude Carroll, and Liam Carroll—each of whom brought him immense joy and pride. Patrick’s love for his family was unwavering and evident in every part of his life—he was a protector, teacher, and steady presence whose loyalty and strength were unmatched.
Patrick graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in architecture, beginning a career that would span more than 50 years. As an architect, he approached every design with creativity, intelligence, and a craftsman’s care, leaving behind work that reflected both artistry and precision. He also shared his knowledge as a teacher of architecture, inspiring his students to see beyond the blueprints and understand the soul of design.
Patrick’s dedication to mastery extended well beyond his professional life. A black belt in both Tae Kwon Do and Kung Fu, he was a lifelong martial artist and a teacher of Tae Kwon Do, known for his patience, discipline, and ability to bring out confidence in his students. Whether he was leading a class or teaching his children about focus and perseverance, he embodied the principles of respect, strength, and balance.
An avid reader and lover of books, Patrick was endlessly curious about the world and how it worked. He could fix or build nearly anything and took joy in woodworking, where his attention to detail and steady hands created beautiful, lasting pieces. Music was another of his lifelong passions—he was especially fond of Bob Dylan, whose lyrics and storytelling resonated deeply with his own reflective, soulful nature.
Patrick also had a deep love for Ireland, its landscapes, its music, and its spirit. The country’s poetry and traditions spoke to his heart, and he carried its warmth and wit within him always.
Those who knew Patrick will remember his wry sense of humor, sharp intellect, and gift for storytelling. He had an unmatched ability to make people laugh, to teach with kindness, and to offer wisdom at just the right moment. Above all, Patrick was a devoted husband and father, whose love and guidance shaped the lives of those he held dear.
A private memorial service will be held to celebrate Patrick’s life, honor his memory, and share the stories that continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal,
Love leaves a memory no one can steal.”
