Patrick's obituary

Patrick Colville passed away on December 6th, 2024, after a courageous and tenacious battle with cancer. Though he left this world too soon, Patrick’s boundless energy, spirited personality, and love for life will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him.

Born to Mary Helen McGrath and Warren Randall Colville on September 10, 1961, Patrick grew up in a bustling household as the youngest of twelve. His upbringing instilled in him a deep appreciation for family and connection—values he carried throughout his life.

Patrick shared 40 incredible years with his beloved wife, Jane, who was his rock, his partner, and his greatest love. Together, they built a life overflowing with laughter, adventure, and friendship.

As a father, Patrick was unparalleled. He poured his heart and soul into raising his three children, Kaitlin (Nate), Courtney (Tony), and Dylan (Danielle), always cheering them on with pride and joy. As his children got older, his involvement and love only grew. He embraced their spouses with open arms, welcoming Nate, Tony, and Danielle into his family as if they had always been a part of it. His six grandchildren—Madison, Brooklyn, Willow, Lucy, Grandon, and Charlotte—were the absolute light of his life.

Patrick’s callused hands told the story of a life dedicated to providing for his family. They bore the marks of his tireless efforts, the countless hours of hard work, the love that drove him to give his all, and the sacrifices he made to ensure his family was always cared for. A skilled carpenter, Patrick not only built things that will stand the test of time but also shared his knowledge generously, training and mentoring others with pride. He loved teaching, knowing his skills could help others create something lasting and meaningful.

In the words of the Doobie Brothers from "Listen to the Music":

"What the people need is a way to make them smile, it ain’t so hard to do if you know how."

Patrick’s life was a testament to knowing how to make people smile, spreading joy wherever he went. Patrick’s love will continue to guide us through the darkest times and remind us to carry his light forward.
