Patrick Barrow, 75, of Brooklyn, NY by way of Trinidad passed away unexpectedly on May 03, 2022 after collapsing in his home. His beloved wife, Deborah James, was with him in his last minutes.
Patrick was predeceased by his mother, Cecelia Thomas and father, George Barrow, his siblings: Winston "Samad" Barrow, Jerome "Rosco Blake" LeGendre, and Sylvia Beguesue. He is survived by his wife, Deborah James; his children: Sherwinka Paul, Lance Paul, Joel Barrow, Neon Salandy, Ameria Alleyne and Orchaid Jones; his siblings: George LeGendre, Cecil LeGendre, Barbara LeGendre, Marjorie Holder LeGendre, Rosalind Ledley LeGendre, Althea Prescott and Maria Barrow-Banfield; his nieces & nephews: Roger, Quasu, Glenda, Pasty, Cedrick, Michael, Errol, Keith, Dexter, Lisa, Collin, Richard, Ricardo, Georgia, Noel, Garvin, Jean-Paul, Joanne, Sherry-Ann, Hazel-Ann, Simone, Anthony, Trevor, Noel, Carol, Selwyn, Kevin, Helen, Harold, Hazel, Herman, Derek, Sherry-Ann, Marcia, Dean, Steve, AnnMarie, Ethan, Arrie, Joanne, Jewel, Silima, Dean, Erin, Shauib, Sumiyah, Brandon, Quincy and Rumer; his grandchildren: Nyla, Ternisha, Simon, Isiah, Callum, Khari, Lily, Marley and Kennedy; his great grandchildren; his son-in-law: Keron and his daughter-in-laws: Janelle and Carlene and a friend and mentor to many.
After Patrick attended school, he explored becoming a jockey, fine-tuned his tailoring and jewelry making and went on several expeditions around the islands of Trinidad & Tobago as well as neighboring Caribbean countries. He eventually emigrated to the US, first settling in Brooklyn and eventually putting down roots in Queens for the last 17 years of his life. Patrick lived most of his life as a vegetarian with hobbies of gardening and playing his numbers. Patrick was a lifelong artist and lover of his culture, people, family and friends. His favorite medium was African prints, copper and recycled & natural materials. Patrick participated in mas and J'ouvert from Trinidad to New York, creating unique and satirical costumes for all ages.
Patrick experienced and lived a full life that touched all that he encountered. Patrick, who did not have idle hands, worked up until his last breath on Earth. He declared that he was a creator here to embellish God's people. From his herbal "elixirs" to his wisdom-filled and funny chronicles of his younger days, he will be forever missed.
