Patt's obituary
Patricia Ann “Patt” Valentine, of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away on April 3, 2026. Born on September 11, 1937, in Cleveland, she was the beloved daughter of Arthur and Gertrude Michael.
Patt was preceded in death by her devoted husband, James Michael Valentine, who passed on April 2, 1987. Together, they created a life grounded in love, family, and unwavering support for one another. They stayed involved in their church and community, and theirs was the kind of marriage that was not only strong—but truly fun and full of joy.
She was a cherished mother to Suzanne Valentine, Scott Valentine (wife Sheri), Michael Valentine (fiancée Jennifer), and Mark Valentine. Patt’s legacy continues through her adored grandchildren: James Clark (wife Brittany), Samantha Fazekash (husband Andrew), and Angelina Valentine, as well as her chosen grandchildren, Isabella and Corina Rosales. She was also a great-grandmother to Bennett and Alice Clark, and Enzo Fazekash.
Patt graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1955 and went on to dedicate many years of service as the Executive Secretary for the Microbiology Department at the Cleveland Clinic, retiring in 2002. In retirement, Patt embraced life fully. She volunteered as an usher at Playhouse Square and spent many joyful hours caring for her grandchildren and introducing them to her favorite spots in downtown Cleveland—the West Side Market, Asian Market, the Cleveland Museum of Art, and more. Patt stayed active, playing in a volleyball league and visiting with her friends. She loved being outside—tending to her garden, enjoying walks, and driving her bright red stick shift Honda with the windows down and music playing. She had a deep love for the outdoors, the beach, and travel—especially cherished summer vacations with her family.
Patt had a remarkable gift for bringing people together. She hosted every holiday and family birthday celebration with love and enthusiasm, often welcoming extended friends into her home as part of the family. Her joy was found in connection and laughter.
A lifelong lover of dogs, Patt opened her heart and home to many, often adopting from the Cleveland APL.
To know Patt was to love her. She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, generosity, and the deep love she had for her family and friends.
A private funeral service will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patt's honor to the Cleveland APL.
