I heard the news this morning and it brought back a lot of fond memories from the SurfControl days early in my tech career.  Pat was an amazing Executive who cared deeply for the employees and clients we served.  She was cool & kind, crazy smart and caring, a unique trail blazer before her time.  Long after we worked together, she hooked me up with a pair of Grateful Dead tickets she couldn't use. (Great show) Sending my deepest condolences to her family & friends.  We lost a good one.  RIP Pat.

I was very saddened to hear of Pat’s passing. She was a mentor to me at both SurfControl and LogLogic.

I will never forget the first time I met Pat. She walked into the room, looked me straight in the eye, and said, “Aren’t you too young to be a lawyer?” My 32-year-old self found that absolutely hilarious, and it set the tone for the honest relationship we shared.

I learned so much from Pat, from how to deliver an effective board presentation to why you should never ever read the airplane-provided magazine (Spoiler alert, sometimes people sneeze in them and put them back!).

I will always be grateful to have known Pat and I feel truly honored to have benefited from her wisdom and knowledge.

My deepest condolences to Steve, Lucia, and Kathleen.

Steve, I am deeply saddened to hear about your loss. My heart goes out to you and the whole family during this incredibly difficult time. Pat was a truly special person, and her kindness and spirit will always be remembered. May you find comfort in the love you shared and in the memories that will live on forever. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

So sorry to hear this. She was such an inspirational colleague

It was a privilege to work under Pat’s leadership at Surfcontrol and an even greater honor to call her a friend. She led by example—showing us all how to remain gracious and personable even under the pressure of intense international travel.

When I relocated to the Bay Area, Pat’s mentorship was a guiding light for me. She had a rare gift for making everyone feel seen, including my parents, who were so charmed by her during their visit. My late mother held her in high regard to the very end. Steve, wishing you and your family peace. Pat’s legacy lives on in the many people she inspired.

Steve, so sorry to hear of Pat’s death. Knowing you during our short time running together years ago, you and Pat were impressive as  strong partners and collaborators who truly enjoyed each other.

Dear Steve, I was sorry to hear about Pat. She was very welcoming to your running friends all of those years ago. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have met her. My sympathy to you and your family at this sad time.

I'm feeling very sad about Pat's passing. I remember her beautiful smile, her generous and kind heart, and her sense of humor.

My sincere sympathy to her husband Steve, daughters Lucia and Kathleen, grandchildren, and all their loved ones.

May memories of her life, the love of God, the caring presence of family and friends comfort you always!!

So sad to hear this news. Pat was my manager and mentor at IBM for many years. She had a significant impact on my career and her personality shone through in all she did.

My condolences to Steve and all the family.

It’s not often you meet people who are truly inspirational but she was one of them. What a privilege it was to have her support.

Pat arrived at IBM hursley where we developed CICS

Within a month she got me to leave my development job and start a marketing team

This was  inspirational giving me a free hand to pick the team

Lovely lady

Peace to Pat’s family.  My favourite manager.
Many, many fond memories of Pat. My first meeting with her was not long after joining IBM in CICS Product Assurance. I had to give her a status report and it being my first meeting with anyone senior I was somewhat nervous. Pat came from behind her desk, sat next to me and simply started asking questions, as if she were merely one of the team. What a way to settle my nerves! And what a memory for people, even years after answering her chat about names of my wife and two daughters, she would always refer to them in name when making small chat before getting down to business. And of course, there's the time I tried to teach her to juggle...RIP Pat you probably did more to help me feel that IBM was the right place for me than almost anyone else.
I met Pat at the Sacred Path Aging group facilitated by Connie Habash. We met for six weeks. We were six women. We got to know each other, learn from each other, and care for one and other. We decided to continue meeting every one or two months over lunch. What I remember of Pat was her beautiful energy, her sense of humor, and her sweet smile :)
This sad news is a huge shock. I was just getting to know this beautiful soul. The few occasions I was able to spend in person with her was joyful and will always be memorable and sweet. I'll certainly miss her dry sense of humor. That is what drew me in. :)

I was a young, enthusiastic marketing manager from the UK and I got to move to the US office for a while. Pat was such an inspiring and warm leader. I looked up to her and felt that she was paving the way for other women. She had a great sense of humour and she was so supportive and welcoming to me and (quite frankly) I was a just lowly employee she could have ignored. I will never forget her and the impact she had on me.What sticks in my mind was that she always commented on my shoes and work clothes, one weekend I had taken a road trip to LA with another colleague and I splurged on Rodeo Drive and bought some Dior gladiator sandals (I still have them today!). Pat insisted I wear them to a 121 meeting we had, it made both of us laugh and she was such a great character!

One of a kind, such a wonderful person. So giving and a very genuine person. Always a good laugh to be had whenever you were near. Dearly missed already. Condolences to her family. Rest in peace Pat.

Sacred group,

Donna

Pat changed my life. In big and small ways. She made a difference to so many of us.
Pat was tremendous in all the ways that matter. I can't begin to describe how much she positively impacted my life and those around her. I'll miss her greatly and will always remember her with much love in my heart. So very sorry for your loss.
