Pat was one of a kind. ... Unique, funny, always helping others, a whiz with technology, a brainiac at research and solving issues/problems.
I wish I had have had one tenth of her energy. Even when she didn't really have energy, she still pushed forward, with so much motivation, that not many of us have.
I met Pat over 10 years ago, accidentally, when I, and a friend of mine, were lost in the midst of a crowd, trying to find a meetup group. We ran into Pat, who just happened to be looking for the same group. I don't think that we actually ever found the real group of people, that night, but Pat & I became good friends.
I'd like to say that I was there for Pat, as much as she was there for me, over the years. But, the truth is that she was always there, so much more, for me.... And for so many people. People I probably am not even aware of. She was always volunteering, and giving of her time, and assistance. More often than not, going far out of her way, and on and beyond what a normal person would normally do.
She was driven; somewhat of perfectionist; a little bit ADHD. . .Okay A Lot ADHD. Lol!
Through the years, we used to laugh at this story, that would come up on Facebook every so often.... About how someone was cleaning their house, and took something into another room and then realized that the desk needed to be cleaned off, and then in the middle of cleaning off the desk they found something that they had been looking for, so they went to put that away, and realized that the clothes in the dryer were done. So they took the clothes and laid them on the bed, and started putting them away. And as they put them away, in the closet, they found some clothes that they hadn't tried on in years, so they started trying those on. In doing so, they decided to give some of the clothes away, that didn't fit, so they went looking for a box. They opened a box to see if it was empty, and they found some old photos. And that's how they ended up looking at old photos and reminiscing at 2:00 a.m. in the morning, after originally starting to clean house at 10:00 a.m. that morning. That was so much like Pat! It was so close to home that we just would laugh and laugh.
I got to attend some of the most interesting things /events, through the years, because of Pat. I am very grateful for that.
I learned so much from watching her, and being around her, of how to be a stronger person; of how someone can come from not having much at all, to having a full life, and being independent, having a wonderful retirement, and to show that a single woman/mom, can become whatever she wants to be.
During the pandemic, and after she moved to Sun Lakes, we slowly lost connection with each other. Even though we really didn't see each other, much, anymore, I would try to touch base with her every once in awhile, to see how she was.
This past year I haven't really been able to get in touch with her much, and she was really on my mind, the last few months.
I am going to miss her existence, her energy, her spirit.
It does warm my heart to know that for a good part of her life, she really enjoyed life, and her family, to the fullest.
She was a fine example of many things, but the most of all was a very fine example of a friend.
Rest in peace my friend.
Say hello to Jan for me. ❤️
