Patricia Murray Snelling, age 92, beloved wife of Dr. John M Snelling Jr., mother to daughter, Patty, to sons, Mike, Jeff, Tom and David, grandmother to Jeffrey Ryan Snelling, Jennifer Hargaden, Joel Freed and Jennifer Feagin and great grandmother to Lyla, Maverick, Maddox, Aidan and Finn died on June 21, 2021 in Clearwater/Palm Harbor, Florida after a brief illness. She was predeceased in life by her parents, Frank and Elizabeth Murray, by her older sister, Marjorie Shingler, by her husband, Dr. John M. Snelling, Jr., by her daughter, Patty Bybee and by her son, John Michael Snelling. She was a beautiful person inside and out. Throughout her life she always carried herself with warmth and grace. It became her trademark. Patricia was born and raised in the little town of Ashburn, Georgia. In High School she was voted Ashburn's Girl of the Year, served as a Page for the Georgia Senate and attended Mary Washington College in Virginia after her graduation from high school. Soon thereinafter she met and married Dr. John M. Snelling, Jr. After John, finished his medical residencies in Massachusetts and Ohio the couple moved to Charlotte, North Carolina where all of their children were raised and where John chose to estanlish his first medical practice as a surgeon. While living in Charlotte, Patricia served as a Sunday School teacher at Myers Park Baptist Church, was a member of the church choir there, was a cub scout and brownie scout leader, was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and other civic groups in Charlotte and made many life time friends there. In 1971 the couple moved to Clearwater, Florida where her husband, John, set up a new medical practice in association with Morton Plant hospital and Clearwater Community Hospital. After moving to Clearwater, Patricia served as a past President of the Pinellas County Medical Auxillary, became a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Skycrest Baptist Church and continued her full time role of raising her family. After her husband, John's death in 1981, Patricia, herself, worked as a medical office manager for 10 years before retiring. Before their deaths she and her husband, John, loved to travel with family and friends and were devoted and loving spouses to one another their entire lives. Patricia was devoted to the church and was one of the most knowledgeable bible scholars one could meet. She was loved by everyone who knew her. There is no doubt in any of our minds that she has risen to be with the Lord. Rest in peace, Mom. We all love you. No service has been scheduled at this time but will be in the future. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Suncoast Hospice.
