Patricia's obituary

Patricia "Pat" Schissler, 86, our dearly loved sister, mother, grandmother, GG, aunt, and friend, passed away on March 10, 2023, at Shawn Manor in Ponca City, OK. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Patricia was born in the summer of 1936, in Platte City, Missouri, to Vernon and Maurine Schimmel. Attending school at Platte County High, she graduated in 1954. Pat carried the values she learned growing up on a farm with her throughout her life, and will always be remembered for her devotion to family and friends.

On September 8, 1956, Patricia Schimmel married Guy Schissler, and together they raised two daughters, Tina and Monica. In 1959, Pat began working for Ponca Iron & Metal, Inc., retiring as office manager after 46 years of exemplary service.

Pat's love for the outdoors led her to embrace the hobby of camping and fishing, making unforgettable memories with family and friends. She also enjoyed spending time with her sisters of Xi Delta, a chapter of the international social and service organization, Beta Sigma Phi. When not with friends or family, Pat relished quiet moments spent immersed in a good book. But above all, Pat will be remembered most for her unwavering love for her family.

She is survived by her daughter Tina Brown and husband Darren, daughter Monica Schissler and partner Luis Nuñez Moran (Mexico), grandchildren Ryan Brown, Blake Brown, Sara Brown, and Angelina Nuñez Schissler, all of Ponca City, OK; granddaughter Amelia Ast and husband Vincent, and great-grandson Mavrick Ast of Wellington, KS; brother Ronnie Schimmel and wife Cheryl, brother Gary Schimmel and wife Susan of Weston, MO; cousin Roberta Lee Sealing of Colorado Springs, CO, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, sister-in-law Dora Belle Schissler, mother-in-law Helen Schissler, grandson Samuel Vernon Schissler, brother Sonny Schimmel, sister-in-law Corky Schimmel, and loving husband Guy (d. 2004).

The family would like to thank the staff at Shawn Manor Nursing Home and Humanity Hospice for their compassionate care. Pat's memory will live on through the countless lives she touched. As we mourn the loss of Pat, let us celebrate her life and remember the joy, laughter, and love she shared with us. We carry her in our hearts and will cherish the precious time we spent together. “A mom's hug lasts long after she lets go.” - unknown
