Patricia Margaret Hanson, age 63, of Wilmette and formerly of Washington DC and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away after a brief illness on January 3, 2021. Loving mother of Henry Jaeger. Cherished sister of Mary, Cindy, Debbie, Robert, Susan and the late Katie, Melissa and Timothy. Fond aunt and friend to many. My wonderful mother Patty passed away peacefully on January 3, 2021 at around 8am, after battling a short but severe illness.

I cannot begin to express the joy it has been to have her as my mother. Her sudden departure has left an immeasurable hole in my life, as I’m sure it will in the lives of her friends and family.

It overwhelms me as I look back on the amount of kindness and generosity my mom gave freely, to myself and to so many others. She was a fierce lover with the biggest of hearts, and an unwavering fighter for everyone she cared about and everything she believed in. I adore her, she is my angel and my flame. I was blessed every day I had her, and it's an honor to be her son and to have learned so much from her.

It pains me to know that so many of you didn't get a chance to properly say goodbye. Due to how rapidly her illness played out, very few of us did. In her final days here, I did not let her forget for one second how much everybody in her life loved her.

January 3rd will always be her birthday to this world, as well as her birthday to beatific eternity. I thank God every day for the time He let me have with her, and the love she shared with all of us.
