Patricia's obituary

Patricia "Pat" Paciotti (Bak), age 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 31st, 2021 at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina. She was born December 1st, 1942 in New Britain, Connecticut to Theodore "Ted" and Mary (Floridia) Bak. She was a 1960 graduate of New Britain High School and later went on to earn an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Tunxis Community College in Farmington, CT and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, CT. She had an extremely successful and proud career with the New Britain, Connecticut Police Department, where she was the first female police officer hired by the City of New Britain, and later rose through the ranks to become the first female Detective in the city, working first in the youth bureau and later in the investigations division. Throughout her life, you could find Pat either at home taking care of her family, cooking up a family recipe, reading a good book, playing with her beloved dog, Merlin, enjoying time at the beach, or reminiscing about her times on the police force. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and by all the people whose lives she touched throughout her life. She is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Mary Bak; step-father, Florian Desautels; brother, John Bak; grandparents, Rosario and Maddalena Floridia; and her dog, Merlin. She is survived by her two sons, Robert Paciotti, Jr., of Norwich, CT; and Christopher Paciotti, of Springfield, MA; her two grandchildren, Jacob Paciotti of Norwich, CT and Amanda Paciotti of Florence, SC; her aunt, Janet D'Avanzo of Kensington, CT; cousins Maryann Glover of North Andover, MA and Laura D'Avanzo of Connecticut; and several other cousins. There will be a small burial service for family and close friends at St. Mary's Cemetery in New Britain, CT, on Friday, January 28th at 11:00 AM.
