Patricia's obituary
Patty was born August 5, 1961, in Oak Park, IL, to Patrick and Joan O’Mara (nee Kramer), both of whom, like Patty, were teachers. Aside from being a passionate mother, Patty touched the lives of countless students, many of whom credit her not only for transforming their art but also their path to adulthood. Patty remained a mentor and friend to many former students.
Also a successful writer, Patty co-authored a memoir, Pulse of My Heart, as a resource for families battling with profound medical hurdles. Her interests included jewelry making, reading, watching terrible reality TV shows and cuddling with her dog Charly.
Patty is survived by her husband Brian, children Devin, Patrick, Colin, Kellen and Connor, siblings MaryBeth, Kevin, Michael, Joseph, Neil and Peter, and a huge family of loved ones. She was preceded in death by her dear sister Kathleen.
Given the global pandemic, we are planning a celebration of life later this year. We also hope to establish an educational grant in her name, details of which will be provided shortly.
Although taken too soon, Patty’s legacy will long persist.
