Patricia's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Hochschild, who left us on September 2, 2025. Patricia, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, was born at Melrose Hospital in Melrose, Massachusetts on August 19, 1947, and spent a life filled with love, strength, and a remarkable spirit of determination.

Patricia is survived by her children, Jenny Skahen and Anton Hochschild, her daughter-in-law, Laurel Hochschild, and son-in-law, Jack Skahen. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, JJ, Molly, and Ronan Skahen. Patricia was a loving sister to her brothers, John and Steve Wendler. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Arthur Hochschild, and her parents, Dale and Emily Wendler.

Patricia graduated from Rhode Island College in 1969 with a B.S. in Education. In the same year, she met and married a handsome Naval officer, Arthur Hochschild, weeks before he was sent overseas to Vietnam. Along their journey they were blessed with two beautiful children in the years to follow.

Beyond her academic achievements, Patricia was a phenomenal cook who loved seafood, particularly Ipswich clams, a delicious Christmas Prime Rib and all the courses, and was known for her delicious meals. She was an avid reader, with a preference for biographies and mysteries, and she found peace and joy in her gardening. In her garden there is no less than 50 roses bushes of many varietals.

Described as caring, thoughtful, supportive, strong, and determined, Patricia was the pillar of her family. Her greatest accomplishment, as she would often say, was "raising her two children and supporting her husband in his business." Patricia's legacy is one of strength and determination, attributes that she instilled in those she left behind.

Patricia Hochschild will be immensely missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit and memories will forever be etched in our hearts, reminding us of the extraordinary woman that she was. We take comfort in the belief that she is now reunited with her beloved Arthur, both of whom are watching over those they loved.
