Patricia's obituary
Patricia Gail Hartley, lovingly known as “GG” by her family, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, at the age of 79. She was a longtime resident of Redmond, Oregon, where she built a home filled with warmth, creativity, and deep love for her family.
Born on March 17, 1946, Patricia lived a life marked by quiet strength and heartfelt devotion. She was married to her husband and best friend, James ("Jim") Hartley, for 61 wonderful years. Together they raised two children, April and Shawn, who both preceded her in death and remained forever close to her heart. She was also proceeded in death by her mother, Edna Lyver.
Patricia had a creative soul and found joy in many simple pleasures. She loved to write poetry, capturing memories in thoughtful verse. She also had a passion for collecting dolls, sewing with care and artistry, and spending time with her cherished Pomeranians—especially Carly, who survives her.
She is survived by her loving husband Jim; her grandchildren, Alexandra Cook and her husband Nate of Beaverton, Oregon, Olivia Quinton of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, and Parker Hartley of Redmond, Oregon; her sister Debbie and brother Doug; and her daughter-in-law Chenowa, whose love and support meant so much.
Patricia was a loving and guiding presence for so many. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her quiet creativity, and the deep love she carried for her family, her pets, and the written word. Her memory lives on not only in the hearts of those who knew her, but also in the poetry she left behind. In her own words, from her poem A Walk in Paradise:
“The New World countryside
Is so beautiful and serene;
More than I ever imagined,
Beyond what I had dreamed.
I walk here every morning as
The sun is beginning to rise.
The air is pure and refreshing,
Creation’s beauty fills my eyes.”
Services will be announced at a later date.
