Patricia's obituary
Patricia Kelley Harding, 63, entered eternal rest and went home to be with the Lord in the evening on January 18, 2026, in Humble, Texas. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister and prayer warrior for God. Patricia was born on April 11, 1962, to Reverend John Preston Kelley, Jr. and Marcella Davis Kelley in Houston, Texas. To her parents’ union, there were five children: Fred, Shun Raye, Belinda, Patricia and John.
Her father and mother empowered her to be a woman of God, strong, loving and compassionate. As a child, Patricia developed a passion for learning, speaking, and most importantly, faith in Jesus. Even at an early age, Patricia could recite scripture, pray with power and assist her father who was a baptist minister at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in Houston, Texas and Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Call, Texas. She was an incredibly anointed speaker and writer. Honoring the legacy of her father who was a dynamic minister known for his great integrity and intelligence, Patricia constantly shared the message of Jesus. She was also passionate about academics. She received a degree in Marketing from San Jacinto College, and later in life completed the Harvard University certificate program in Christianity Through Its Scriptures. She later authored an unreleased book on prayer, as well as continued to take various courses.
Patricia was united in holy matrimony to her beloved husband James Harding on November 22, 1984. James and Patricia were very committed to the sanctity of their marriage—being married for over forty years where they were always faithful and joined together. It was a true love story–they went to the same high school but did not connect until after graduation where they worked in the same shopping mall, fell in love, and established their family in Humble, Texas.
Patricia was a very proud mom of three and a career woman, holding several managerial positions at reputable companies. Patricia loved her children more than anything and she told everyone about them and their accomplishments. She was devoted to teaching her children the Word of God and the importance of scripture, prayer, church and family. While raising her children along with James, Patricia was also active in the church—previously serving as a prayer partner at Lakewood Church, New Light Church, and Grace Church. She also was excellent at exhortation—no one could encourage you or believe in you like she could. As an empty nester, Patricia’s greatest joy was her grandchildren and attending ministry conferences. In her last years, she enjoyed being able to connect to The Light of the World Christian Fellowship Church. The impact, wisdom, love, and encouragement she showed towards her family, friends, and even strangers will continue to live on forever.
She is survived by her husband James Harding; her children Larry Harding (Jamie), Vincent Harding (Meagan), and Jasmine Harding Adams (Dominic); her beloved grandchildren Carson, Eli, Justice and Victoria; her siblings Belinda Collins (Edmund), John Kelley and Shun Raye Wiltz; her aunt Gracella Bossette; her aunt-in-law Jeanette Davis; and numerous extended family such as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
