Patricia's obituary
Patricia Ann Gates passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on December 11, 2025 in Redding, CA.
Patricia was born on July 14, 1934 in Neotsu, Oregon. At the age of 16, Patricia married the love of her life, John Gates. Together they built a life centered on family and devotion until his passing on February 14, 1996.
Lovingly known as Grandma Pat to many, Patricia lived a life defined by deep love for her family, quiet strength, and a generous heart. She had a lifelong love for horses, dogs, the 49ers, and NASCAR. She adored her “crazy” family. Patricia was known for quietly sitting back, watching the room with a gentle giggle, a knowing smile, and often a shake of her head. Her huge heart, protective nature, and quiet presence brought comfort, laughter, and love to those around her.
She was a proud and loving mother to three children: Candice Lorentz (William Lorentz), John Gates (Jaclyn Gates), and Denise Fanoe (Henry Fanoe). Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved unconditionally.
Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Gates; her parents, Arthur Mitchell and D. Eva Mitchell; her sister, Nancy Jacobson; and her brothers, Neil Mitchell and Duane Mitchell.
Services will be held at Garden of Memories on March 6th at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Patricia’s life, love, and enduring legacy. Patricia will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.
