Patricia's obituary
In Loving Memory of Patricia A. Dunlap (née Ball)
March 16, 1946 - September 15, 2025
With deep sadness, the family of Patricia A. Dunlap (née Ball) announces her passing on Monday, September 15, 2025.
Patricia was born in Woking, England on March 16, 1946, and raised in Bermondsey, London. She was the beloved daughter of Frederick William Ball and Margaret Mary Durrent, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her brother Frederick Ball and is survived by her brothers Anthony Ball and Kenneth Ball.
A graduate of Paragon Trinity Girls' High School in Southwark, London, Patricia began her career as a skilled tailoress in a prestigious fashion house on Wardour Street in London's vibrant fashion district. There, she proudly fitted garments for celebrities and members of the British Royal Family. Her talent for sewing remained a lifelong passion, and she lovingly created many garments for herself and her children over the years.
In May 1968, Patricia emigrated to the United States with her first husband, Patrick T. Long. They settled in Boise, Idaho, where she gave birth to her daughter, Angela Margaret Long (Mize). The family later relocated to San Jose, California in 1971, where her son, Patrick Brian Long, was born in 1972.
Patricia built a life in San Jose over the next three decades. She worked in the emerging field of computer technology in the early days of the Silicon Valley boom and was an active volunteer at her children's schools. Later, she found a long and fulfilling career as an agent assistant with State Farm Insurance, where she was deeply appreciated by clients and colleagues alike for her warmth, diligence, and professionalism.
In 1994, Patricia married Dennis E. Dunlap, and in 2000 they moved to Eagle Point, Oregon, where they built a peaceful life together. Patricia was known for her keen sense of humor, deep compassion, and passionate support of her children's many activities-including volunteering with the Boy Scouts and helping at a local ballet studio. She loved music, dancing, and was deeply devoted to her Christian faith and church community.
Patricia is survived by her loving family:
Her daughter Angela M. Mize, son-in-law Tim Mize, and grandson Daniel J. Mize of Albany, Oregon;
Her son Patrick B. Long, grandson Joshua Long and his wife Lauren, and granddaughter Caitlyn Long, all of San Diego, California.
Patricia's legacy of love, creativity, and strength lives on through her children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
