Patricia was born on May 18, 1938, to Frank E. Neuzil and Loretta M. (Scheetz) Neuzil in rural Tiffin, Iowa. She grew up in the community and was a graduate of Cosgrove High School.
She met John A. Dohrer, and they were married in 1956. Together they raised five children: Steve, Renae, Kevin, Michelle, and Alicia, Patricia devoted over 40 years of service to the University of Iowa, working in the Department of Child Health Specialty Clinics until her retirement.
Patricia lived most of her life in the Tiffin area. After retiring, she and John spent time living part-time in Jupiter, Florida, and Palm Bay, Florida, eventually making Florida their full-time residence. Throughout her life, Patricia was an active mem ber of the Catholic Church, attending St. Peter's Catholic Church in Iowa, St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Palm Bay, Florida, and St. Jude's Catholic Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Patricia had many interests over the years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, visiting with friends, playing cards—especially bridge and euchre—music, and belonging to various organizations. She was especially devoted to her family and treasured conversations with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Patricia loved life and tried to live each day to the fullest. She cared deeply for her family, neighbors, co-workers, and friends, and she loved God, striving always to live out His message of love and service to others. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Patricia is survived by her children: Steve (Cindy) Dohrer of Iowa City, Iowa; Renae (James Carrell) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Kevin Dohrer of Palm Bay, Florida; Michelle Ferguson of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and Alicia (Dennis O'Leary) of Oxford, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one sister-in-law, Laurel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, John Dohrer (2015); her three brothers; and two sisters-in-law.
