Patricia's obituary

Patricia (Patty) White passed away quietly on November 9th while her husband of 34 years, Steven, was holding her hand. She died due to complications of MS, COVID, and meningitis.

Patty was born to Beulah Marie and Ted R. Perry on May 25th, 1959 in Indianapolis. As a child growing up in London, Indiana, Patty wanted to be an elementary school teacher. However, she found her calling as a Registered Nurse. In High School she volunteered as a "Candy Striper" with the Red Cross Youth Volunteers. She then went on to Nursing School and graduated from Indiana Central University (University of Indianapolis) in 1982. In 2008, Patty started working at "the best job" she ever had at FirstHealth of the Carolinas Hospital in Pinehurst, North Carolina as the Employee Health Nurse.

Patty was one of the kindest, friendliest, and most thoughtful people in this world. She touched everyone she knew. When you ask any of her coworkers or volunteers at the hospital, most would say, “Oh Patty, she is sooooo sweeeet!” Before Patty passed, one of her coworkers called her an “Angel Nurse.” Can you imagine all of the joy, happiness, and kindness Patty can spread around the world now that she has her wings.

Patty met Steven in 1982 when he was her patient at Community Hospital in Indianapolis. They were married in 1986 at Northview Christian Life Church in Carmel, Indiana and went on to have a son, Christopher.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving wife and mother, Patty also loved God. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith. Patty and Steven are members of Village Baptist Church in Fayetteville, NC, where they taught 2nd and 3rd grade Sunday School for three years.

Patty was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 2009. In 2020, she was hospitalized after being exposed to COVID-19. Her close coworkers donated meals from local restaurants to help with her recovery at home. Steven and Patty were so moved by the generosity; they started a nonprofit foundation to aid others affected by COVID. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either: donatetoCOVIDrelief.org or nationalMSsociety.org.

Patty is survived by her husband, Steven; their son, Christopher; sisters, Kay Gutierrez and Nancy Russell; nieces, Sharon Burnette and Lori Dodge; grand niece, Kyla McGuire; great nephew, Bentley Michael McGuire; and in-laws Paul C and Kay White. She is preceded in death by her parents, Beulah Marie and Ted R. Perry, and niece, Mercedes McGuire.
