Patches's obituary

Patches “Patchy Pooh Bear” Workman crossed the rainbow bridge Saturday, May 4th, 2024, due to age related complications at Catoctin Vet Clinic with his Mom and Dad by his side. His Human sister, Scarlett was home, but Patches knew it was better that she wasn’t there.

Although he was Born in 2004, it wasn’t until Patches was 8 years old, he found his fur-ever home and was adopted by Robert and Amanda Workman. He is survived by human sister Scarlett along with loving human grandparents, human great-grandparents, human aunt and lots of human nieces and nephew. He is preceded in death by his dog sister, Maggie (2022) and his human-nephew, Lane (2023).

Patches favorite activities was having a good cuddle by any human or blanket, licking anything he could find but an arm, hand or leg of his human friends were his favorite. He enjoyed getting all the attention you were willing to offer and leaving nose art on car windows when he went “bye-byes”. Patchy loved everything life had to offer, except his experience at the beach, both him and Maggie did not like the sand. Patches has always loved chewing on a good bone and getting a good rub down from human friends and family. He enjoyed sunbathing on the deck and staying in the sun until he was panting, and his mom made him go inside to take a break.

More than anything else, he loved his family. He loved sleeping in bed all curled up in the middle of the night with his mom, dad and human sister, Scarlett. He enjoyed playing Vacuum when anyone dropped crumbs on the floor and enjoyed being carried around like a little baby. After his best pal and play mate Maggie passed away, he was often sad. I don’t think he was ever the same. But he found great joy in playing with his new dog friend Conway. Although Conway was much bigger than tiny little Patches, he sure loved to boss Conway around. Patches thought his little yappy bark was intimidating and we can’t forget his “scary” lip curl. Conway always played along and let him run the show. He loved being the center of attention and he knew he was mommy’s little boy, he used it to the fullest advantage. You could always find Patches wandering through the house like mommy’s shadow or laying on her lap! He truly had the most loving and gentle personality, and he was lucky to have been loved by so many people. Patches showed his unconditional love to his family by greeting every guest with his endless barking until he knew you were safe and not trying to hurt his family and even then, he would keep his eye on you.

Patches spent his last days surrounded by family. We soaked in all the hugs, cuddles, and kisses. He enjoyed eating some hotdogs, pork chops and his favorite snack like cheese and whipped cream. His last days were full of love, and he will be cherished forever.

We will think of him every time we need a good cuddle. We will miss him every time we want to come home and not see his tiny little self just waking up and getting excited when he realizes we are home. We will remember him always.

He will be forever missed, but he left behind his fierce and endless love, and we are so lucky to have had such an amazing dog that he made saying goodbye so hard.

Patches will be cremated by Resthaven of Frederick and return home with his forever-loving family.

The family asks that you give all your pups some extra love in honor of Patches!
