We got know Pat through the International Rum Festival. We were both hiding behind the scenes to quietly make sure things went well and just started to chat. As anyone who met Pat knows that was just the start of getting to know an amazing and inspirational person. Myself, my wife and our three kids all got to know and love Pat and had the pleasure of his company in our home a few times and we also got to enjoy visiting him in Austin. Our first visit he let us know that it would be easier for him to adjust to us five than us five adjusting to him. So very typical of Pat and his nature. I can't express what knowing Pat and counting him as a free d has meant to me and my family and we are in Newfoundland today thinking about him as you remember his amazing life. We'll be raising a rum in his honour tonight and toasting the great blessing he was to all who knew him. You'll be missed Pat!

A group of us were motorcycle camping in Dinosaur Utah years ago. There was a lone camper next to us-Pat Davidson.Within minutes he had joined us and we rode with us to a BMW rally in Paonia.Of course he knew many people at the rally, including many Austin riders.Over the years ,we slept at his home for SXSW.He visited us often in the Smokey Mountains.Last time I was him he pulled up to our place in Asheville in a fancy white Porsche ,threw me the keys and said”Let’s go for a ride”And we did! It was a good ride,my friend.A good ride!

Pat always struck me as a genuinely happy person, which is quite rare. He also lived a full life in spite of a debilitating genetic disease...Remarkable! I can't recall another patient who inspired me more. I sincerely believe the world lost a wonderful spirit on July 10.
I have been quietly grieving since his cancer diagnosis. I will miss his equanimity, stories, generosity, quiet patience, and winsome smile. Although deeply saddened by his passing, my gratitude from knowing Pat will bolsters me.
I send heartfelt sympathy to Pat's family and close friends.

Pat was a great friend over the years. He lived a very rich and varied life. He was a great storyteller and liked a good laugh. My deepest sympathy to his family upon his passing.
