Pastor Edward Lee Harvey Sr., born September 18th, 1945, deceased April 10th, 2018, was born in Richmond, CA. He attended Daniel Webster Elementary, Frick & Havenscourt Jr High, Castlemont High Class of 1963, and Merritt College in Oakland, CA.
He played Semi-Pro baseball for the Oakland Athletics in 1963-65, along with Joe Morgan and Rudy May. He chose a life of service over fame and became a servant of the Lord. He pastored in the following cities: Castro Valley, CA; Bakersfield, CA; East Palo Alto; and Elk Grove, CA. A Celebration of his life was held on May 10th, 2018, 11:00 am -1:00 pm at the Capitol City SDA church located at 6701 Lemon Hill Sacramento, California 92504. Interment immediately following the ceremony was held at East Lawn Memorial Park, 9189 E Stockton Blvd, Elk Grove, CA.
Edward L Harvey was born September 18th, 1945, in Richmond, CA, to Eddie Lee Harvey (1924-1995) of Greensville, MS, and Cleola Jones Harvey (1928-2011) of Texarkana, TX. He is the Paternal Grandson of Bassett Harvey (1895-1978) of Greensville, MS, and Lucille Gregory Jones (1907-1987) of New Orleans, LA. He is The Maternal Grandson of Elbert Jones (1906-1990) of Shreveport, LA, and Ernia Blackmon Jones (1909-2010) of Texarkana, TX. He was survived by his loving wife, Ayda Harvey (1940-2021) of Elk Grove; Seven children, Dr. Eleanor Harvey, Eddie & Kim Harvey, Yolanda Johnson, Ilarion Johnson, Angela Osayanda & Altalita Miller; Grandchildren, Reyna Harvey (News Anchor KRON 4 SF), Paul A, Porter III, Amir Osayanda, Khyla & Ethan Harvey; Aunts and Uncles, Leola White, Thomas (deceased) & Ruth Nash-Jones, Oscar & Maria Jones, Armeia & Ollie (deceased) Bradley. Pepito (deceased) & Maxine Jones; Four Paternal Aunts and Uncles: Chester Blackmon Jr of Richmond, CA, and his beautiful tribe, Frank (Joanne) Ward of Louisville, Kentucky, Evelyn Ann Harvey-Simpson of Memphis, TN, Michael Harvey & Jerry Harvey of Greensville, MS; Cousins Chante' Ward, Frank Ward Jr, of Louisville, Kentucky, and Isaac Simpson of Memphis, Tenn; A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Left to celebrate his memory are the following devoted caregivers: Diane Perkins, Beatrice, Carolyn Lee, Deborah Wilson, Danielle, Nasra Abdi, Samrit Willis, Erin Harris, Artist & Layla, and Amber City Hospice Care of Loma Linda, CA. Throughout his 50 years of ministry, Pastor Edward L. Harvey planted seeds of hope through an outpouring of overwhelming love and compassion shown to all the lives that he touched while here on earth. His legacy lives on through us all. Rest in peace….
