Pam's obituary

Pamela A. Votava died on January 18, 2024 in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 81, due to complications from Parkinson's Disease. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on December 28, 1942, the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Peirce. Pam overcame childhood polio and went on to graduate from DeVilbiss High School and Ohio Wesleyan University. After graduation, Pam moved to Seattle, where she taught in the Seattle Public Schools and met Joseph Votava of Chicago, who was serving in the U.S. Coast Guard there. Pam married Joe in 1965 and shortly after they moved to Sylvania, Ohio where they raised two sons, Andy and Brad, and lived until 2020.

Pam was a devoted wife and mother, a master gardener, a great cook, and skilled in sewing and knitting. She loved spending weekends and summers at the family cottage on Lake Erie, playing bridge, taking trips, and spending time with her friends. She was a long-time member at Sylvania United Methodist Church, and later active at Epworth United Methodist Church in Toledo, especially with the church bazaar. She brought her organizational skills and strong work ethic to help successfully manage a medical practice, Bowling Green Orthopedics, for over 15 years. Both Pam's personal strength and kindness were always appreciated by those around her, and she was a great friend to many.

Pam was proceeded in death by her husband, Joe, of 58 years, her parents, and her brother Peter Peirce. She is survived by her brother Tom Peirce, sister Nancy Peirce, both of her sons and four grandchildren: Andrew Votava (Kim) of Oro Valley, Arizona and their children Anna and AJ; and

Bradley Votava (Andrea) of Madison, Wisconsin and their children Jack and Julia.

There will be a service for Pam and her husband, Joe, held at Epworth United Methodist Church in Toledo, Ohio on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers the family would suggest a donation in her name to the Parkinson's Foundation (www.parkinson.org)
