Pamela's obituary

Pamela Petersen, age 76, of Lake Orion, Michigan, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer dementia. She had been battling dementia for the past eight years and was meticulously cared for at her home until the bittersweet end. Pam passed peacefully, surrounded by her husband Tim and children, Todd and Krista, and caregiver Kara with the sweet sound of worship in the background. In her final days, her family remained by her side, holding her hands, speaking gently to her, and filling the room with love. At the end, there was an overwhelming peace and assurance that she was welcomed by Jesus and her loved ones.

Pam was known for her boundless creativity, her deeply loving heart, her unwavering dedication to family, and her wonderful sense of humor. Pam was at her happiest creating in her one-of-a-kind craft room, with the most beautiful view of the lake, and when spending time with her family and friends. She had a gift for turning the ordinary into something special, transforming trash into treasure, and inviting those around her into her world of art. Her talent for creating and collecting was masterful, but even more remarkable was the warmth and imagination she shared so freely. She had a way of making life feel a little more joyful, a little more colorful, and a lot more meaningful.

Pam was born in Detroit, Michigan and grew up in an Italian generational household before moving to St Clair Shores and West Acres, on Middle Lake Straits Lake in West Bloomfield, Michigan. She graduated from Walled Lake High School in 1967 and enrolled at Pontiac Business Institute learning her executive assistant skills. Her family members were lost starting at a very young age, leaving a void that was felt for her lifetime, which is why her own family was so important to her. She was determined to give what she didn’t have and dedicated her life to her loved ones. Pam met her husband of 55 years, Tim, while working at Pontiac Motor Division in 1970 and together built a small ranch home in a rural, hilly subdivision in Clarkston, Michigan in 1972, the year of their marriage. In 1984 they started to build their forever home in Keatington subdivision on Lake Voorheis, in Lake Orion.

Pam came alive when music played and as her disease progressed, she had the ability to sing lyrics to a song until the near end. She will forever be remembered whenever a Jimmy Buffett song plays—a reflection of her joyful spirit, her love for music, and the many memories she created with those she loved most. Those songs will always carry a piece of her laughter and lightheartedness.

Pam leaves behind a family who loved her dearly and will carry her memory forward in the traditions she created and the love she modeled. Pam is survived by her devoted husband, Tim Petersen; her two children, Todd Petersen (Dayna) and Krista Meikle (Todd); and her four cherished grandchildren, Riley, Ethan, Noah and Elizabeth, who were truly the pride and joy of her life. She adored being “Gram” and found her greatest happiness in spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mildred Monear; her brother, Greg Monear; and others dear to her. Though her memory faded in her final years, her faith remained steady, and we take comfort in knowing she is now gloriously reunited with Him in heaven—whole, restored, and at peace.

A celebration of life will be held at her Lake Orion home in the spring, for family and friends to gather, share stories, and honor the beautiful life she lived.

If you knew Pam, you knew her heart. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
