Pamela's obituary
Pamela Jayne Benoit
December 2, 1959 – January 24, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pamela Jayne Benoit on January 24, 2025, following a sudden stroke. She was 65. Her final days were spent in the care of her family, surrounded by love, peace, and light — a quiet, sacred time that, even without conversation, offered connection, gratitude, and grace.
Pamela was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, on December 2, 1959, the daughter of the late Harvey A. Benoit Jr. and Ruth A. (Eastman) Benoit. She was named “Jayne” after her aunt, and “Pamela” simply because it went well with it — as her mother once explained.
She grew up in Haverhill and graduated from Haverhill High School in 1977. Pamela’s professional life included time in finance and accounting at various companies, including in automotive, real estate, and construction.
As a child and young adult, Pamela loved music and dancing — so much so that her father once worried the floor might give out and banned dancing in that room. She shared this passion with her older sister Irene, who often picked her up in her white Beetle for music-filled adventures. Pamela also adored babies and children, eagerly volunteering for babysitting duties when nieces and nephews arrived. She took up downhill skiing in her young adulthood and was known to hit the slopes in a floral pink outfit and white ski boots.
Pamela became a mother in November 1980 with the birth of her only daughter, Amy. Though their relationship had its challenges over the years, they shared a deep and enduring love for one another.
She cherished time with family and was always beautifully put together — hair done, makeup flawless, stylish outfits in place. She loved to cook, favoring rich, comforting dishes featuring any combination of cheese, butter, prosciutto, broccoli, chicken, and breadcrumbs. She loved a party, a get together, any excuse to get together with the people that she loved. She was especially present and generous in the care of her parents, spending time by her mother’s bedside in the hospital and playing cribbage with her father in the nursing home.
The family offers deep thanks to Amedisys Hospice for their kind and competent care as well as to the many who held Pamela in their thoughts, even from afar.
Pamela is survived by: daughter Amy Benoit and her wife Brianna, sister Nanette, brother Robert Benoit, and beloved niece Sheriden, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends and acquaintances who enjoyed her company over the years.
Pam will be remembered for her sharp wit, her style, her devotion to family, and her fierce independence. Her memory lives on in all who knew and loved her.
A memorial party will be held in her honor at Cider Hill Farm in Amesbury MA on 6/22/25 from 12pm-3pm. Any who wish to attend are encouraged to celebrate Pam by wearing her favorite color, purple.
