Pam's obituary

Pam Sidne Bernstein, 81, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025 in Sarasota, Florida.

Daughter of the late Philip and Betty Schwartz and sister of the late Ivan Buddy Schwartz.

Loving and devoted mother and best friend to Cory Scott Bernstein and Paige DiProspero (Bernstein).

Adored Grandmother “Yaya” to Payton DiProspero and Parker DiProspero.

Pam was born in Chicago, Illinois, where she was the part namesake of the first multi-level women's designer department store, "The House of Pamdora."

A born fashionista, Pam had a successful career in fashion and sales. In her early years, she was a working model under the name Kelly Robbins. Later, she ran her own successful jewelry company for over 33 years.

The most important job and life's work for Pam was being an incredible mother to her two children. She will forever be their best friend, mother, and angel.

Everybody who had the pleasure of knowing Pam, loved her. Known for her extreme beauty, intelligence, contagious laugh, and sharp wit, Pam was an avid reader, and supported her local libraries throughout her lifetime.

Pam was always the first to help a family member or friend. No matter what the situation, Pam was selflessly there. She always showed up and her friends and family knew they could count on her. She was known for her wild energy that lasted throughout her lifetime. She did not believe in laziness, and was a go-getter and businesswoman who made things happen. She encouraged other women to go after what they want and never rely on other people.

Pam loved to cook and entertain, whether small family dinners or large lavish parties, Pam did everything with great taste and high style. She loved to laugh and was always fun to be around.

Pam was the designer and visionary who built their families' ultra contemporary family home in Highland Park, Illinois, which was featured in countless magazines and photography shoots worldwide.

Pam and her devoted son Cory moved from Chicago to Sarasota, Florida, and she enjoyed reading at the pool, going out dancing, working with her jewelry company, and helping others in need.

Born with a genetic cocktail of good looks and charm, she knew brains were what was most important and to be independent. She loved to give her friends advice when they asked. They could always count on her to inspire them and not judge.

When Pam walked into a room, heads would turn.

Pam was the most loving and wonderful woman and devoted mother and grandmother and aunt and cousin to her family. Family came first to Pam and she would do anything to help any person in need. She did countless anonymous things for others, never wanting any recognition. It was her pleasure and duty to help others without making it about herself. She was enormously generous and had a sharp, brilliant business mind, and she did her best to help anybody who had a problem. It was her pleasure to help.

Pam has a legacy of a life well lived and wanted only the very best for her children, often putting herself last and others first.

The world has lost a world-class beauty and shining star. Pam Bernstein's memory shall forever be a blessing and cherished to all who were lucky enough to know and love and be loved by her.

She will be reunited with her fabulous parents and brother. She worked so hard that she never slowed down to even realize she had an illness. She stayed in good spirits, never complained, and fought until she could no longer battle this incurable disease. Pam loved and lived life on her terms. She stayed true to her values and with a positive outlook, used her humor and brains to get through any obstacles life threw her way. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

We ask you to honor her memory by doing anonymous good deeds with class, dignity, and style, as she chose to live her life. There was never a more outstanding and beautiful woman, inside and out, than Pam Schwartz Bernstein. We shall all miss her and love her to the moon and back. It was such a great privilege and honor to be her children, grandchildren, friends, and family. She was the kindest, most loving woman we ever had the good fortune of knowing and being loved by.

Rest in paradise until we are all reunited together again. You shall forever be loved and missed until the end of time. Pam was a true gem and wonderful, loving , kind, fun, iconoclastic, multi-faceted woman and human being. Her most important and favorite job was being a loving mother, grandmother, and friend.
