Sam's obituary

Oussama “Sam” Abdul Halim Naccache, 74, unexpectedly passed away at his home on March 17, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of endless love, laughter, and an unwavering zest for life. Born on April 23, 1949, to Abdul Halim and Fatmeh (Tabbara) Naccache in Beirut, Lebanon, Sam's life was adorned with cherished stories, delicious food, enduring friendships, and countless jokes shared with loved ones and strangers alike.

Sam immigrated to the United States in the early 1970s where fate eventually led him to a blind date with Pamela (Bishop) Naccache, who would become the love of his life. Sam's heartwarming gesture of cooking one of his signature dishes captured Pam’s heart. The two were married on June 28, 1986, in the front yard of their family home in North Muskegon, where the couple went on to raise their children, Sarah, Zachariah, and Rachel Naccache.

Those who knew Sam knew he rarely had a day off. Sam’s unparalleled work ethic took him from humble beginnings as a dishwasher at the Brown Jug in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to the revered restaurant owner of The Pizza Station and the beloved Sam's Grille and Pizzeria, among others. For over four decades, Sam graced the Muskegon and White Lake area with his renowned culinary delights. Sam’s delicious pizzas, breadsticks, and Middle Eastern cuisine brought joy to countless customers, wedding guests, and patrons at Parties in the Park, Greek nights, school functions, and charitable events. Over the years, Sam employed several people, many of whom viewed Sam as a father figure and kept in contact with him up until his last days. Most recently, Sam worked in the cafeteria for North Muskegon Public Schools, which he loved, as he adored children, oftentimes sharing his magic tricks and jokes.

But Sam's impact extended far beyond the kitchen. His love for his family was truly unmatched. Sam was an extremely proud father and often shared stories about his children with anyone who would listen. Sam constantly told his children how much he loved them and affectionately called them yahabeebto, meaning “my love” in Arabic.

It’s certainly no secret that Sam was undeniably funny and a well-known goofball in the community. He had a comedic story, joke, or one-liner for every situation – and if not – he’d just make one up on the spot, likely laughing before getting to the punchline. Sam's fun-loving nature was magnetic. He loved classic rock and attending concerts with Pam. Sam was often spotted dancing his heart out to a “far out” tune with his self-proclaimed “swivel hips”.

In the tapestry of Sam's life, familial bonds were paramount. He is preceded in death by his parents, Abdul Halim and Fatmeh Naccache, his sister, Naila Naccache, and his grandpup, Peanut. Yet his spirit lives on as he is survived by his beloved wife, Pam, his children, Sarah, Zachariah, and Rachel, his brother, Walid Naccache, his sisters, Kheyriah, Houda, and Somaia Naccache (his twin), his four grandchildren, Cody, Selena, Maxwell, and Ian Cisneros, his pup, Taj, his grandpup, Starsky, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and those he embraced as family.

A celebration of Sam's life will be held on April 28, 2024 at the Muskegon Eagles located at 621 W. Western Avenue Muskegon, Michigan 49440 from 1:00-5:00PM. As we gather to celebrate his life, we ask all to join us to honor Sam’s memory by sharing the stories, memories, and jokes that continue to resonate within us and commemorate the joy, laughter, and love that Sam brought to our lives. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to https://everloved.com/life-of… or through Venmo to @Sarah-Naccache.

A private ceremony was held with family, and Sam was laid to rest in accordance with Muslim tradition at the Laketon Township Cemetery.

Though he may have departed this world, Sam is forever in our hearts, living on through all of the countless lives he touched, and reminding us not to take life too seriously.
