Mr. Otis W. Milton, Jr. was born on January 2, 1936 to the late O. W. Milton and Johnnie Mae Milton in Jasper, FL, where he was raised. Otis fell asleep in death on January 15, 2021. He was the second of five children from his parents’ union. His family eventually moved to St. Petersburg, FL, where he graduated from Gibbs High School. As a young adult, Otis joined the United States Air Force in 1954. On July 30, 1960, Otis married Algertha Carter. Later on, he graduated from Carver Junior College and the HBCU Florida A&M University and taught math in Brevard County before becoming an electrical engineer at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in 1967, where he worked for over 35 years. In fact, Mr. Milton assisted and inspired numerous young and brilliant minds from Brevard Public Schools to become successful engineers by means of NASA’s SHARP and NURTURE programs before retiring in 2002. Most noteworthy, he loved and appreciated the Bible’s message and often wanted many to learn about Jehovah just as he was learning. His wise saying was, “It is better to get something from the Bible than to get nothing.” For many days and nights, Otis would pray to Jehovah for strength to endure through his medical ordeal. He truly came to have a close relationship with Jehovah. Mr. Milton is lovingly remembered as a gourmet cook who enjoyed entertaining his friends and family. Mr. Milton was preceded in death by his parents and brother Theodore. He is survived by his daughters Betty M. Anderson (Jackie), Easley, SC, Linda A. Cannion, Rockville, MD, Cathy Milton, Melbourne, FL, and Agile L. Milton, West Melbourne, FL, his sons Aloysius Milton, Plantation, FL, and Otis W. Milton III (Theresa), Winter Garden, FL, his brothers O’Neal Milton (Delores), St. Petersburg, FL, and Alfred Milton (Theda), Pembroke Pines, FL, his sister Ella Martha Hardy, Newark, NJ, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
