Osbourne's obituary
Osbourne Westgarth Banton was born in Silllington St Elizabeth Jamaica on February 1, 1937 to Elizabeth Banton.
He attended Crawford Primary and at 15 years of age he went to cobbler school to learn upholstery. This he excelled at greatly that he started his own upholstery business upon moving to Kingston in the early 60s. He was also a trusted and faithful care taker at the Andrews SDA Church for over 40 years.
Osbourne migrated to the United States in 2002 and started a new career as a Janitor and Security guard before retiring in 2016. He then moved to New York and got involved in the community feeding the poor and needy by going to different food pantries collecting food and deliver to elders shut-in there homes even though he himself was physically challenged and did not drive a car. He take the bus or walk.
His favorite past time was reading, listening to talk shows on his radio, and watching Jeopardy. He also enjoyed a conversing while having a drink and playing dominoes. He would never give up the opportunity of sharing a good joke or telling stories of his past.
Osbourne Westgarth Banton was a strong stalwart, a resilient man, a peacemaker, a fervent worker, a faithful giver, a loyal friend, a man amongst men, but most importantly, a caring father whose soul went God on October 14, 2020. He leaves behind wife Elretha, 13 children, 23 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Winifred and Patricia and brother Walton. Sons in-law Courtney, John, Peter, Deji, Damion, James and Rodney, daughters in-law Novlette and Jodian, nieces, nephews, cousins and a hosts of friends.
