Orval's obituary

Orval Wayne Phillips, age 77, passed away on June 19, 2024, at home after succumbing to his battle with cancer.

A celebration of life party will be held 7PM- Friday October 4, 2024, at Early Methodist Church. Dress attire is casual Hawaiian shirts, and some will be available if you do not own one.

Wayne was born on October 4, 1946, to Orval Lafayette Phillips and Bertha Viola Webb Phillips in San Antonio.

Following graduation from Early High School in 1965, he joined the Army, and the Army National Guard while attending Howard Payne University.

On October 5, 1979, he married Kay Keen Phillips, and they were blessed with one son Kenneth Wayne Phillips.

Wayne retired after 50 years of dedicated work at Superior Essex of Brownwood.

He was a faithful member of the following: Pecan Valley Emmaus Community, a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Suez Shriners, a respected leader at Early Methodist Church, and finally a volunteer of the Early Police and Fire Departments.

Wayne is survived by his wife- Kay Keen Phillips of Early, son, Kenneth Wayne Phillips and wife Renee Jones Phillips of Marble Falls, sister, Nelda Teague of Odessa. Nephew-Phillip Teague of Odessa, grandchildren, Tiffanie and Ray Alfafara of Pensacola, Florida, Thomas Phillips and fiancé Max Denny of Indianapolis, Indiana. Aaron and Isabell Phillips of Homewood, Alabama, Macias family of Brownwood, Young family of Clyde, Delgado family of Lubbock, Deanda of New Braunfels, including eight great-grandchildren.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, O. L. Phillips and B. V. Webb Phillips, and his brother-in-law Carroll Teague.
