I was so sorry to hear about Orlando's passing. He was such a fun and lively person. I worked with him for many years and will always remember how much fun he was. He wore shorts even when the weather was blizzard like! My deepest condolences to Irene and his family. Terrible loss.

Orlando was a person that brought laughter and joy to the people that were lucky enough to know him. He and Irene loved, laughed, enjoyed each other and their life together. I am grateful they had each other. He left to soon, is missed and will always be remembered lovingly.

Irene Rasmussen
Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW), Romulus, MI, USA
Born a newyorican in Queens. A Forever Yankees fan with the Tigers in the mix while he moved to Detroit . He was a proud Puerto Rican 🇵🇷 and Rollins College graduate. The Boston Red Sox were a lifelong nemesis.
He worked with his father at the Pan Am building in Manhattan and at JFK. He learned customer service with a New York style before heading to college in Florida. After college he married a wonderful woman and started a family. He had two sons named David and Bobby while he pursued a career in fire fighting.
The airline industry called him back to begin a new career in RSW with Northwest Airlines. He moved to DTW where he left the ramp for customer service as an agent. He worked most positions at the airport including gates, TAR, weight and balance, luggage service and ticket counter.
He began a new life when he married another airline employee, Debbie and they were soon joined by Orlando Santiago, Jr (affectionately known as Dito.) In 2020 he retired from his position in cargo to care for his mother, Sarah, in Florida.
He had the best sense of humor, was a great dancer and would sing love songs or recite poetry at the drop of a hat.
