Opal's obituary

We'd like to extend our deepest gratitude for everyone’s support, love, and kindness during this difficult time. We look forward to seeing all of the memories and stories that everyone will be sharing with us and it just goes to show how much of a force of nature Mom truly was.

Opal Lee Reed, 91, of Tyler, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of May 17, 2024 after a valiant battle with advanced dementia and stroke.

Opal was born on March 15, 1933 to Gene and Ida Beth Nalley in Mt Enterprise, Texas. Soon after, she and her family moved to Ft Worth, Texas where they remained for many years.

Opal had three children: Debbie, Roger and Tim, three grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Family was incredibly important to Opal and she was a dedicated mother to her children and a loving and caring wife to her late husband, Bill Reed, who passed away in 2011.

Opal was predeceased by her parents, Gene and Ida Beth Nalley, her husband Bill Reed, her brother Leo Nalley, her sisters Frances and Liz, and her son Tim Ganoe. She is survived by her sister, Bonnie Binkley of Fort Worth, her surviving children Debbie Barton Newland and Roger Ganoe; her grandchildren Raymond Barton and Carrie Barton; and her great grandchildren Evan Barton and Kaitlin Martinez.
