Opal's obituary

Mrs. Opal Holder Owens age 87, of Rome, GA, died Saturday, November 3, 2012, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Owens was born in Rome, GA, on January 13, 1925, the daughter of the late Thomas Curtis Holder and Bessie Garrett Holder. She retired from the Floyd County Superior Court System after serving thirty years as a deputy clerk and was a lifelong member of Pisgah Baptist Church. Mrs. Owens loved needle work and won many awards for her ability. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur David Owens, Sr.; two brothers, Gene and Thomas Holder.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Arthur David Owens, Jr. and Sherry Owens of Cohutta, GA; a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Judson Tate of Rome, GA; grandchildren, Chris Owens, Brian Owens, Lisa Tate Brown, and Jason Tate; great-grandchildren, Trevor and Payton Owens, Shelby Owens, Adalyn Owens, and Sydney Brown; a brother and sister-in-law, Wayman and Jerry Holder of Rome, GA; and two sisters-in-laws, Wanda and Lillie Holder.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, November 5, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the Miller and Richards Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Dudley officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The Miller and Richards Funeral Home and Cremation Services Oaknoll Chapel has charge of the arrangements for the funeral of Mrs. Opal Holder Owens.
