Olivia's obituary

Olivia Goffin, 76, of Maitland, FL passed away peacefully on November 06, 2022, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Olivia grew up in Ecuador and came to the United States in 1964 after the death of her father.  In New York City, she became a computer operator and worked for Rogers Wholesale Drug Company. While there she met her future husband Alvin Goffin. They were married in 1970 at a service performed in Flushing, N.Y. Subsequently, she went on to study at Queens College, where she received a B.A. degree. In 1976, Erik Ian Goffin was born. Unfortunately, he was not a healthy child and this forced Olivia to want to return to her home country to be with her family. In 1978, Olivia and her husband left for Ecuador and lived there for 7 years. While in Ecuador, Olivia gave birth to Ana and Jonathan, both healthy and vibrant children. In 1985, they returned to the United States to Miami where she worked as a teacher and studied further. Olivia ultimately earned a Masters Degree in Linguistics from the University of South Florida and began  teaching Spanish at Lake Brantley High School in Altamonte Springs, Florida. There, Olivia found a home and became a beloved teacher  and colleague to others. She was recognized by all and became a National Board Certified Teacher. She remained in that position until her retirement in 2014.

Olivia was predeceased by her father, mother, two younger brothers, and first born son Erik. She is survived by the rest of her family, her husband, son,  daughter, and two wonderful grandsons, Ethan and Julian. Olivia requested a celebration of life be held in her honor as opposed to traditional funeral services.

Olivia was a beautiful person. She was kind, considerate and a loving human being. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was one of a kind and very brave. She endured much hardship in her life, but yet was able to smile through it all.
