oliver's obituary

Oliver Weldon Zerba age 87. Born 7-27-34 passed on 10- 2 -21
Oly loved living on the mountain on Clark Lk Rd the past 65 years.
He was born in Baker Oregon 7-27-34 to his parents Dale and Allie Zerba. He was one of 5 children.
Virginia Dukes, Delbert Zerba, Ralph Zerba, Darrell Zerba was the youngest.
Oly grew up following his dad in the woods and carrying his tools.
Oly joined the USMarines {1952}during the Korean War. He was proud to be a Marine fighting for freedom here and abroad.
He met his wife to be Marilyn Silver in Sandy Oregon. They were married in California where Dad was stationed in 29 Palms when he came state side. The first son Clyde was born during their stay at 29 Palms.
Lyn and Oly came to Washington and Zerba Mt in October of 56. This is where they had 3 more children, Brenda, Diane and Michael. Oly loved life on the mountain cutting trees for his saw mill to make lumber to sell. Many loggers brought trees to Dad's mill and he logged all over the rural area.

Oly loved being in the woods and making a living for his family with his wife at home caring for the children and home. My mom wasn't the best cook but she did her best. Dad never complained and ate every bite. In the evenings we sat around talking of the days events, churning butter and ice cream. My mom liked to sew and garden. She was also a member of the Summit Valley Home Extension.

The last tree my Dad cut was 26" across and over 50' high. He loved cutting the big trees with his 26" chain saw. This will make lots of fire wood my Dad said and give the other trees a chance to grow. Dad also liked to make things out of wood, long handled spoons for stirring jam, trucks, trains, jewelry boxes animal figures. Dad gave many a trucks to VFW toy drives and children in the family.
Dad liked working with his hands so they were big and strong. He gave great bear hugs. We will miss those hugs and smiles He and Mom loved hugs. We will miss them and we know in our heart they're in Heaven watching over us leaving the Legacy of Zerba Mt to their children. Brenda and Michael Zerba own a piece of the legacy planning to continue on in God's Country . We are blessed.
